This is where the stars begin to shine around the state and are expected to play their best basketball. Here are the players of the week around New Jersey from a week ago.
Will Richardson (2022) | Bergen Catholic
Richardson has been the leading scorer for one of the best teams in the state. He continued his hot streak with 29 points in a win over DePaul and 26 points in a six point victory over St. Joe’s (Mont.). He closed out the week with 17 points in a blowout of Hasbrouck Heights. The sophomore is scoring just over 21 points per game and has blossomed into one of the top sophomores in the state.
M.J. Iraldi (2020) | West Deptford
Iraldi has led the way for West Deptford during their current streak of 10 wins in 11 games. He began the week with 13 points and 10 rebounds against St. Augustine. He followed that up with 11 points, seven rebounds, and 10 assists against Haddon Township. Iraldi closed out is week with 13 points, seven rebounds, nine assists, and two steals against Haddon Heights. He is a complete player who fills up the stat sheet every time he steps on the floor.
Savion Pressley (2022) | Wardlaw-Hartridge
Pressley is scoring 22 points per game during his sophomore campaign. Wardlaw-Hartridge has won nine in a row including three last week. Pressley scored 36 points in a win over Highland Park. He followed that up with 20 points and 10 steals against East Brunswick Tech and 22 points against Montclair Kimberley.
Patrick Rogers (2020) | Rutherford
Rogers finished with two double-doubles last week and came within shouting distance of a third. He began with 18 points and nine rebounds in a close loss to Elmwood Park. He then finished with 21 points and 14 rebounds in a win over Hawthorne. Rogers finished the week with a season-high 24 points and 16 rebounds in a blowout win over Ridgefield.
Jaden Honis (2020) | Immaculata
Immaculata has been winners in seven straight led by Honis. He scored 22 points and collected 10 rebounds against North Hunterdon and finished with 16 points and 10 assists in his next game against Hillsborough. Honis ended the week with 31 points in a win over Morris Catholic. In just three games, Honis showed his ability to get it done in many ways on the floor.
Mikah Johnson (2020) | Newark East Side
Johnson became the ninth player in Newark East Side history to score 1,000 career points. The Monmouth recruit has been the team’s leader all season long. He scored his 1,000th point during a 26 point performance against Montclair Immaculate. Prior to that game, he finished with 20 points and 20 rebounds in a big win over University. Johnson is averaging 16.3 points and 10 rebounds this season to lead East Side.
Josh Randall (2020) | GCIT
Randall put up two monstrous games last week to add to his impressive season. Randall finished with 23 points and 14 assists in a division win over Kingsway. His next performance was one of the most impressive of the season. In a game against Triton, Randall finished with 35 points and 22 rebounds. He set a new career-high in both. Randall is averaging 21.8 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 3.8 blocks on the season.
