Hoop Group HQ Fall League: Monday, September 15th Standouts

Fall leagues in the state of New Jersey have kicked off and are in full effect. Since the beginning of this month, prospects have been competing with their respective high school programs in different preseason fall leagues all across the state. From breakout underclassmen to dominant returning seniors, the fall ball has been packed with high-energy matchups, clutch plays, and rising prospects making a name for themselves. Hoop Group's fall league at its headquarters in Neptune, NJ has been a staple for teams in the Shore conference(s) for years and has definitely not disappointed up until this point this year. With that being said, let's take a look at some standouts from this week's action on Monday evening.    A steady ball handler with confident shot making ability, [player_tooltip player_id='2202014' first='Rey' last='Weinseimer'] demonstrated his ability to not only be a reliable initiator of offense but also a lethal perimeter shot maker. Weinseimer provided strong and reliable ball handling along side his ability to be make decisive decisions from the point guard spot. Weinseimer also impressed with his ability to be a dangerous threat from three point range with his ability to knock down outside shots.     Capable of spending time and being productive between both guard positions, [player_tooltip player_id='1595682' first='Jayden' last='Holman'] split time between initiating offense and providing scoring. Holman showed flashes of decision making ability in the ways he was able to shoulder a little bit of the point guard responsibilities for Linden's offense and set up his teammates. Holman impressed as a scorer as well, showcasing his effectiveness as a perimeter shot maker.     An excellent floor spacing threat during Monday night's action, [player_tooltip player_id='1595685' first='Jekhi' last='Burnam'] excelled as a phenomenal catch and shoot threat from the perimeter. Burnam was aggressive in hunting his shot and was efficient from the field, knocking down threes at a high clip. Burnam was also really productive on the defensive end, making an impact on the defensive glass and using his length to wall up and contest shots in the paint.     A versatile big with a unique skillset, [player_tooltip player_id='2205839' first='Luke' last='Cruz'] delivered a standout performance that displayed his versatility as a low post scorer with his back to the basket game and his face up game. Cruz showed good touch around the basket with a number of different floaters, jump hooks, and turn around jumpers in the lane. Cruz also flashed his guard skills with his perimeter shooting along side his ability to push the break and handle the ball in the open floor as well as attack his defender off the bounce in the half court. Cruz also got to the free throw line a ton due to his ability to play through contact and his impact on the offensive glass.     A young guard with legitimate ball skills, [player_tooltip player_id='2633990' first='Clint' last='Martin'] rose to the occasion in a performance that showcased his smooth and confident overall game. Martin impressed with his poise as a ball handler, handling the ball against opposing pressure along side his ability to attack the basket off the bounce and finish in traffic.     Providing a nice spark plug offensively, [player_tooltip player_id='2505096' first='Nick' last='Nsenkyrie'] impressed with his finishing ability as not only a downhill driver in half court offense but also in transition. Nsenkyrie also made a number of highlight plays defensively with his ability to constantly pressure the ball, contain drives, and be in the right position defensively, causing a handful of turnovers and routinely turning defense into offense.     A young but confident two guard, Dylan Brunson impressed with his ability to be a seamless fit in Rutgers Prep's offense. Shooting the three ball with a ton of confidence, Brunson demonstrated his ability to be a dangerous threat form three point range. Brunson also showed flashes of his finishing ability both in transition and off dribble drives in the half court.     A smooth and confident shooter from three point territory, Julian Ceberio exhibited his dangerous catch and shoot ability. Ceberio did an exceptional job of hunting his shot and also showcased the confidence he possesses as a shooter, shooting it nearly any time he saw a sliver of space.     A combo guard with the ability to be productive at either guard spot, [player_tooltip player_id='2948559' first='Jayden' last='Opoku'] had a number of good moments he had both as a decision maker and a scorer. Opoku impressed with his live dribble decision— making an array of good reads when he got in the paint off the bounce, hitting dump offs and finding open shooters. Opoku also showed flashes of his scoring ability— knocking down open shots from three point range and mixing in a couple attacks at the basket.
