BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | DANIEL FERGUSON | FLINT HILL ’20
Due to the nature of this game, Flint Hill was able to get 15 different guys on the floor for an extended period of time, and Daniel Ferguson was one who took advantage. Despite being listed at just 6’0″, Ferguson was active on the boards and defensively. He also had some crafty finishes around the basket.
BEST MOTOR | DOWAR JIOKLOW | FLINT HILL ’20
We’ve praised Jioklow in the past for his high motor, and it was on display once again in this contest. He worked hard on the glass and protected the paint with pride.
BEST NEW FACE | JAKA PREVODNIK | SAINT JAMES ’21
Prevodnik is a prospect we saw for the first time in this game, and he played pretty well despite his team’s loss. One thing that stands out about his overall game is how well he shoots the ball. Prevodnik hit 5 of 9 three-point attempts and made all four of his free throws. He also did his due diligence on the glass, leading his team with 7 rebounds.
BEST PLAYMAKER | JUSTICE ELLISON | FLINT HILL ’20
Ellison ran the show quite efficiently for the Huskies. He handed out 7 dimes in limited action and was able to rest for a majority of the second half.
BEST POST SCORER | NOEL BROWN | FLINT HILL ’20
Brown did not miss a shot in this game. The GW commit did a nice job using his sturdily built frame to establish a deep low post position, and when he got the ball knew exactly what to do with it.
BEST REBOUNDER | JACK THOMAS | FLINT HILL ’22
Thomas played for a bit in the second half and gave us a glimpse of what to expect in the future. He was particularly active on the glass, recording three rebounds, both in and out of his area, in a short amount of time.
BEST SHOOTER | NATE PABIS | FLINT HILL ’22
Pabis has been tabbed by Coach Rico Reed as “the best shooter on the team”, and we saw why once again in this contest. The sophomore sniper netted 4 of 5 attempts from downtown. Pabis also showcased a nice in-between game which he activated by utilizing shot fakes.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | SAXBY SUNDERLAND | FLINT HILL ’22
This was the best we’ve seen Sunderland play. He was extremely efficient, scoring 25 points on just 11 field goal attempts. Sunderland’s aggression was evident throughout this game. He attacked the basket with little fear and converted efficiently from the foul line.
BEST PLAY
2021 guard Anthony Smith had not one, but two impressive and-one finishes in transition. It was nice to see his teammates cheering him on from the bench, and this was certainly one of the most memorable moments of this game.
BEST STORY TO WATCH MOVING FORWARD
Flint Hill has played well of late. Before this win, they picked up a huge win on the road at St. Andrew’s. Can they continue this run into the MAC tournament later this month? Only time will tell.
