Ben L. Smith High School on a tear
Since their loss to the Millbrook Wildcats in the Millbrook Showcase back on 12/7, the Golden Eagles have gone 8-1 with only a 5-point loss to Greensboro Day School with conference play opening up. They opened up Piedmont Triad play with a 74-51 victory over the Dudley Panthers on Tuesday night behind 18 points from unsigned senior Silas Mason and 16 points from unsigned senior point guard Khalid Hinds and Murray State signee Nic McMullen. They’re currently 12-2 and considered a top team at the 3A level with tons of talent to keep an eye on.
2021 forward Nate Brafford posts 50 points (again)
2021 Tuscola forward Nate Brafford has posted his second 50-point game of the 2019-20 season for the Tuscola Mountaineers. He put up 50 points, six rebounds and five blocks for Tuscola in a 67-65 victory over West Henderson on the road. He’s a 6-foot-7 prospect to keep an eye on in conference play. His team is currently 3-2.
Offers are flowing in for North Carolina prospects
Fresh off the holiday season, the offers are flowing in for a number of prospects across the state of North Carolina. Here’s a look at some prospects with offers already with 2020 underway.
2021 guard Jayden Doyle (Freedom Christian) offered by Howard University. The 6-foot-4 guard has been quite the sharpshooter in the rotation for his squad this season.
2020 guard Kamon Green and 2020 forward Tylan Green both received offers from Bluefield College. Both players are athletic slashers in their own right that can get to the rim and finish and compete on the defensive end.
2020 shooting guard Austin Manley offered by Marymount University and Covenant College. He’s turned heads with the South Wake Sabres. He’s a sharpshooting guard at 6-foot-4 that’s also developing as a slasher as well.
2020 wing/forwards Randy Freeman Jr. (Word of God) and Wol Yak (Fuquay-Varina) offered by Central Carolina Community College. Freeman and Yak were members of the same AAU squad this past season and have room to develop as versatile threats on the hardwood.
Combine Academy point guard Rhyjon Blackwell has been offered by Miles College.
Commitments
Holly Springs point guard Marcus Elliott announced his commitment to UNC-Wilmington this past Saturday via his Twitter page.
Word of God teammates Lance Anthony and Josiah Shackleford commit to Brunswick Community College via Twitter and Facebook as well.
Terence Harcum unofficial to Virginia Tech
2021 Granville Central guard Terence Harcum Jr. will be on an unofficial visit to Virginia Tech this weekend. Harcum is off to quite the start for the 10-3 Panthers, averaging 26.2 points, 6.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 5.4 steals per contest through their first 13 games. He’s recently drawn the interest of Virginia Tech as well as East Carolina with his play of late. He’ll be in attendance this weekend for the Hokies game against NC State in Blacksburg.
