These sophomores are off to a nice start, showing more than their freshman years did already, some seeing their first varsity action!
Sean Jones (2022) | 5-11 PG | Gahanna
Jones is off to a solid start to his sophomore season, leading Gahanna to a 10-0 record, which not many expected. When you have a young leader like Sean, that’s possible. The sophomore has missed a couple games, but hasn’t missed a beat when he’s on the court. Averaging 17 points a game, including a 25 point performance against Whitehall. Maybe Central Ohio’s best prospect regardless of class, Jones has taken a step forward this season, including a jumper that is falling much more. Still the quickest player on the court, the Sophomore is bound to burry a lot of teams this season and he’s off to the right start.
Josh Harlan (2022) | 5-10 G | Pickerington Central
Getting his first real taste of varsity action this season, Pick Central is set to groom out another good one in a couple years. Harlan has been a role player as well as a starter, this season, showing his versatility to adapt early to whatever the Tigers need. We’ve been able to watch him a couple times, he’s shown a good ability to handle the ball and operate the offense, the ball doesn’t stick much with Harlan at the helm. Which, is a good early sign for the underclass player. Averaging five points a game, which will definitely go up in the future as the Tigers haven’t needed to rely on his scoring a ton early. Nice on ball pressure as well. Off to a good start in his varsity career.
Cooper Davis (2022) | 6-4 WG | Reynoldsburg
Reynoldsburg is playing .500 ball virtually, but the future is bright with players like Cooper Davis on the right track. So far as a sophomore he’s been the teams leading scorer at nearly 15 points a game and is growing his game each time out. Impressive as a facilitator, the sophomore does much more than score it. A sophomore that isn’t talked about enough in the area.
Amil Upchurch (2022) | 6-5 WF | Ontario
Upchurch is one of the rising sophomore in the MOAC and needs to be talked about. A lengthy prospect that works on both ends. Can clean up things on offense, handles the ball or works without. Does most of his damage at the rim. A Swiss Army knife for Ontario right now, capable of doing multiple things. Ontario doesn’t need him to score it a ton right now, but he’s a secondary option that is capable. Was impressive when we watched him.
Rob Dorsey (2022) | 5-9 PG | Northland
Northland always has a solid standout guard it seems that really stands out. Dorsey is no different and he’s only a sophomore, so he will be around for a bit. Off to a 4-3 start, with four league wins already, Northland will once again be in the mix for another North league title. Right up there in scoring for Northland, Dorsey has scored in double-digits every game this season, averaging 14 a game. Not the biggest in height, but a strong build and tight handle opens up the sophomores game. Having a nice sophomore season so far.
