There were many players throughout each class that saw a change in ranking thanks to improved play since the summer. For this series, I’ll take a look at the Baltimore prospect who landed in the top 100. Let’s take a look at those that landed from the 26-50 mark.
Rahim Ali | 5’11 | Poly
Ranking: No. 28
Ali has established himself as one of the most winning players to ever come out of Baltimore. The 5-foot-11 point guard is attempting to orchestrate this Poly team to its fourth-straight Class 3A state title since Ali took control as a freshman. Over the last four years of watching Ali develop, he has become into an all-around player that impacts the game in just about every way. He knows how to manage a game and his teammates while balancing with producing numbers himself to keep defense’s honest. Like every great point guard, Ali acts as an assistant coach on the floor for head coach Sam Brand. It takes a special player to achieve all that Ali has thus far in his high school career. He isn’t done, either.
Tyler Brelsford | 6’2 | Mount St. Joseph
Ranking: No. 29
Since losing James Bishop (LSU), Brelsford has done a nice job at handling an increase in his role as a play maker. The George Washington commit built a reputation over his high school career as being a sharpshooter from three. Adding to his game off the bounce further increases his stock at the next level, as he’ll likely be expected to act as a combo guard and share ball-handling duties.
Jason Edokpayi | 6’7 | Mount St. Joseph
Ranking: No. 35
Edokpayi is another Gael who has stepped up this season and produced in bunches. Edokpayi experience an active summer with his recruitment after the June Live Period where a slew of low major schools offered the 6-foot-7 forward. Headed to Farifield, Edokpayi is showing the ability to be a primary post option on a team and come through on a consistent basis. Mount St. Joseph will certainly need his services as they look to establish themselves in a wacky MIAA.
Will Thomas | 6’5 | Mervo
Ranking: No. 39
After being sidelined with a Jones’ fracture for his entire 2018-19 season, Thomas returned to the court and had a nice showing this summer with Team Thrill. He becomes the focal point and Swiss army knife for a Mervo team with aspirations of making a run in the 4A class. Thomas has an old school scoring approach that includes pinch-post fadeaways and face-up jumpers from the elbow. He still exhibits effective vision and can make plays above the rim when the situation presents itself. He’s become a more focused defender who takes pride in getting stops and pushes teammates to limit the opposition to one-shot possessions.
