But first here are the results…
#17 North Oldham defeated #1 Male, 78-71.
#6 Ballard defeated #4 Collins, 88-81.
The 2019 KOB Championship will be #6 Ballard vs #17 North Oldham Monday at 7:30pm.
Semifinal Standouts
Justin Powell (North Oldham)
No surprises here. Justin Powell with yet another solid showing and led his team in the upset victory over #1 Male. Male had no answer for Powell as he finished with 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. In the first two KOB games it seemed Powell was looking to find the open man first. But for this game, he was looking to score. Another great performance from the Auburn signee. Powell is averaging 23.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 7.3 assists in the KOB so far.
Maker Bar (Ballard)
The 6’9″ Sophomore from South Sudan became eligible during this tournament and he showed up big for the Ballard Bruins in their semifinal victory over Collins. Bar finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, including a big slam dunk. His length is intimidating for offensive players when attacking the rim. His length also helps under the basket and snagging offensive rebounds. Maker will only get better with time. Looking forward to seeing what his future holds.
Dayvion McKnight (Collins)
The WKU signee is a star in the making. He can do just about anything out on the court. Despite the loss, McKnight finished with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Stat sheet stuffer. His ability to drive to the rim is so effortless. His dribbling and finishing skills are what make him one of the best players in the state. WKU Head Coach Rick Stansbury was in attendance to watch his future player do work.
Noah Courtney (Male)
Despite Male losing to North Oldham, senior forward Noah Courtney played a great game. He finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds. He was grabbing some big time offensive rebounds during crunch time in order to keep Male in the game. His spin moves in the post are impressive but sometimes his shot looks forced. He is so quick with his first step that it can be out of control when going up for a layup. Still a very solid performance for Courtney.
