Bryan Boehlert Commits to Assumption
Team Takeover Orange forward Bryan Boehlert, a senior forward at Magruder High School, ended his recruitment earlier this week by committing to Assumption College. Boehlert traveled to Massachusetts to visit the campus this past weekend, and made his decision after an enjoyable time at the school.
“I loved everything,” Boehlert began. “From the teammates, to the coaches, to the school. Everything was great I thought.”
Boehlert, who began playing basketball around sixth grade, started out as a center because he often found himself among the tallest players on the court. One thing that Boehlert has always been very good at is shooting the ball.
“I think I’m a good shooter,” he said. “I can shoot threes and off the dribble. Now I’m developing more of a driving game. Getting to the basket.”
An underrated rebounder, Boehlert is a very versatile defender who is comfortable matching up with all types of players. Boehlert was being recruited by a variety of schools from the division three, two, and one levels before his commitment. Ultimately, the decision for Boehlert came down to how quickly he was able to build a rapport with players and coaches during his visit.
“The biggest deciding factor was the relationship I had from that weekend to the coaches and the players,” Boehlert began. “Players were very inviting. I hung out with them. We played pickup. I went to one of their dorms. It seemed already like a family environment. The coaches like how I play. They say I can be a big part of the team right from the start as a freshman. The school was great. I liked everything that I saw.”
As he prepares for his final season before college, Boehlert is working on improving his ball handling and overall quickness. What can Greyhound fans expect from Boehlert?
“I’m gonna bring someone that works hard and will leave everything on the court every night and someone that wants to win. I hope that I can help the team be the best team in the Northeast 10 Conference.”
