This year was no different, and while we were only able to attend the first day of the stacked two day set, there was still plenty of talent from all over the country in attendance. Here’s a look at part one of the senior standouts from Saturday.
DJ Gordon | 6’6” F | First Love (PA)
The Penn State commit should bring the Nittany Lions an immediate scoring threat on the wing with his blend of size and skill set on the perimeter. At 6’6” he’s a natural athlete that can run the floor and finish above the rim, he’s able to create his own shot off the bounce and he has three-level scoring ability. At times he seemed to try to do a little bit too much, but at the same time he was a guy who came at you on every play and was a tough guy to matchup with. He finished with 23 points on 9-for-16 shooting from the field and pithed in 8 rebounds as well before fouling out.
Isaiah Wilson | 6’0” PG | First Love (PA)
When you talk about the right fit for recruitment, Wilson is committed to the University of Richmond and he fits their style of play to an absolute t. He isn’t the biggest or most athletic guard but he has a quick first step and gets to his spots well, he’s a natural playmaker who can get guys shots both in transition and in the half court sets and he showed the ability to score when needed from all three levels. He finished with 13 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds in a close loss to Rock Creek Christian (MD).
Jett Roesing | 6’4” WG | First Love (PA)
A commit to Duquesne, not far from where First Love is, Roesing is a lights out shooter from deep that has effortless range and a nice frame for a shooter as well. He’s built pretty well at 6’4” that allows him to use his body on the defensive end, and he’s one of the best shooters I’ve seen with picture perfect form and a guy who is always ready to let it fly when given the opportunity. He finished with 26 points, going 7-for-14 from behind the arc.
Isaiah Todd | 6’10” F | Word of God (NC)
One of the best talents in the country at 6’10” with guard skills, Todd didn’t get off to a great start as he was slow to get things rolling and only scored one point in the first half, but stopping him for an entire game is very tough to do. Todd came out of the gates in the second half with a lot of aggression and he stopped settling, getting to the rim and getting some easy opportunities in transition that had him feeling it and opened up the rest of his game including him hitting a couple from deep in the second half. He finished the game with an impressive double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, earning him the MVP award for the game in a win over Bishop Walsh.
Chase Forte | 6’3” WG | Word of God (NC)
Forte is a guy that I had watched a good amount over the summer, and it seems like he’s improved in the spots he needed to since then. At 6’3” he’s a natural athlete who thrives in transition and can play above the rim, but in the first half with his team struggling from the field he came up with some big shots from deep toward the end of the first half. He played well on both ends of the floor, took advantage of his opportunities and finished with 13 points, going 5-for-11 from the field and 3-for-7 from deep, pitching in 5 rebounds and 3 assists as well.
Quandre Bullock | 6’4” WF | Word of God (NC)
Another breakout guy who had a good showing on the national stage, Bullock shut the gym down not once but twice with some huge slams in transition that had fans coming onto the floor and legitimately stopped the game. A big bodied wing that’s obviously an explosive athlete, Bullock brought a ton of energy to his team with not only his big time dunks but his all out play on both ends of the floor. He didn’t start but he was one of their most efficient players, finishing with 10 points on 5-for-6 shooting from the field, pitching in 6 rebounds and 2 steals and made winning plays throughout the game.
Ty Berry | 6’3” WG | Sunrise Christian (KS)
On a Sunrise team that is stacked with young talent, Berry was the senior leader who is also their sniper from deep who helped open up the game against Gonzaga (DC) after trailing them by three at half. He was a little passive in the first half but gave them a big boost in the second half as he came out aggressive and looking for his shot, hitting a couple of big shots to start the second half. His play fed through the rest of the team, and the Northwestern commit finished with 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field in 21 minutes of play.
