The best game this Friday comes out of the Joe Lawson Memorial Tournament Semifinal. The top team in Class 5A Tulsa Memorial will be taking on the Top 5 team in Class 6A PC North. The defending champs in class 5A will rely heavily on their guard play against a bigger PC North team. Kavon Key will be crucial because of his size to guard multiple positions and his ability to score the ball. PC North has a lot of different options, whether it’s the Nwanko twins or Tobias Roland they have different options that spaces out the talent on the floor. This game will be a good game and just a reminder it’s just a semifinal of this tournament.
5A#2 Del City vs 4A#8 John Marshall
Del City looks to keep rolling as they play a tough John Marshall team out of Class 4A. The Eagles are led by their star point guard, Nate Goodlow. Goodlow can take over a game with his talent and if Josh Marshall wants to be able to win the game they will have to slow him down. John Marshall is a darkhorse to win the 4A crown this year and if they can pick a big upset of Del City then they won’t look so much like a darkhorse anymore. They would look like one of the favorites. Del City already has one ranked win and will look to add to that tonight.
4A#12 Broken Bow vs 3A#6 Hugo
Broken Bow always has a lot of athleticism on their teams. If the Savages can play good disciplined ball to go along with their athleticism they will be hard to beat this season. Hugo always seems to be in the Top 10 in Class 3A. They are a constant threat to win the class but have fallen short here recently. Hugo could have the opportunity to be a favorite going to state with wins in tough games like this. These are two of Southeastern Oklahoma’s best teams going at it.
6A#4 PC West vs 6A#16 Norman North
PC West is one of the favorites in Class 6A and there is no doubt why. They have a lot of talent on their team including OSU commit Rondel Walker. Stopping Walker does not mean stopping their team because he can affect the game in so many different ways. Norman North is historically good and always have deep runs into the playoffs because of tough games that they play during the season like this one. Norman North has one of the best coaches in the state in Kellen McCoy. McCoy always seems to get the most out of his players and gets them to play at a whole new level. This game will be a chess match and it will entertain whoever goes to see it.
6A#8 Edmond North vs 6A#15 Edmond Santa Fe
Edmond North has a lot of talent, including the likes of Delante Shannon and Landry Harris. Harris is one of the best shooters in the state and shutting him down will be a challenge for Edmond Sante Fe. However thought historically the Wolves have been a tough defense to crack. They have a lot of length and use it to their advantage. This game will be a fun fast pace game between two Edmond schools.
5A#3 Carl Albert vs 5A#13 Bishop Kelly
Carl Albert are one of the early favorites in Class 5A. They have been historically good and it should be no different this year. They take on a solid Bishop Kelley team lead by Jake Gendron. The Comets could be a darkhorse this season as they do have a lot of upperclassmen to go along with Jake Gendron. This game will be dependent upon the pace. If Bishop Kelley can slow down the pace of play they will be in the game.
