Dinos Trigonis has had his finger tips on the pulse of Grassroots basketball for quite sometime and his best accomplishment, in my humble opinion, is the creation of these all region frosh/soph camps that take place in California, Texas, Illinois, and New Jersey. The camps are chock full of elite prospects and this was the exact case in California as super sophs Kijani Wright and Aidan Shaw took home MVP honors—and rightfully so.
Asa White (Garner Magnet/NC)
2022, PF, 6-foot-7, 185 pounds
White is a blue-collar 4-man with a wiry frame and budding upsideJoel’s Take: It’s impressive when someone is willing to fly across the country to perform, when this exact same camp will be on the east coast in a few weeks. White is a lengthy 4-man who impacts the game in a variety of ways. He is a productive rebounder, can score in the paint as well as out to the elbow, and he plays with a no nonsense attitude. His ball skills need to improve as does the range on his shot, but he could play somewhere at the next level due to his blue-collar approach to the game at both ends of the floor.
Christian Moore (Brentwood)
2022, WF, 6-foot-4, 190 pounds
Joel’s Take: Moore has gotten considerably stronger in the past year as he punished defenders with a bully-ball style. He has a knack to score, especially in the paint area where he can slash his way to the rim. He is also solid in the areas of rebounding and passing. He has a high IQ for the game which is demonstrated with his look ahead passes. Due to his on-going physical maturity, he has lost some bounce and quickness due to his bulky frame.
Joseph Hunter (San Joaquin Memorial)
2022, WF, 6-foot-5, 170 pounds
Joel’s Take: As the camp went along there wasn’t a player I would rather watch than Hunter. The talented wing snapped passes to open teammates with aplomb. He never over-handles and is quite potent locating shooters and cutters for easy baskets. Due to his quickness and bounce he is a high volume rebounder and his ball skills are solid as he navigates the defense. His jump shot is solid, but it will need to continue to get better as he matures.
Langston Reynolds (Denver East/CO)
2022, WF 6-foot-4, 190 pounds
Reynolds affects the game in a number of ways due to his relentless style.Joel’s Take: The chiseled wing-type made his mark on this camp immediately with his motor. He is a terror in transition where he punishes defenders with his strength and knack to get to the rim. His bounce and speed with the ball is impressive and he has no trouble finishing through contact. Going forward, however, his jump shot needs refining.
