Often, I will have coaches asking me who is a hidden gem or a player we should know about in your area. Other times, programs will want to know the top players in my coverage area.

Well, with the new rankings update, these are the top five players in the Central Ohio area. Central Ohio has six in the top 23 in the state, and seven in the top 30!

• Tyrese Hughey (6'6” / PF / Thomas Worthington / C2K Elite): Tyrese has had the biggest boost in stock in the last couple months in the area. Improving his movement, stretching the floor and expanding his game. Hughey is still the explosive rim rocker, but taking it to the next level. A player that is going to fit right in at Thomas Worthington.

• Garner Wallace (6'5” / SF / Pickerington Central / Indiana Elite): Garner Wallace can lock the opposing teams best player up all game, and drop 20 while doing it. Wallace is going to take a big leap with Central as a primary contributor this season. Wallace gets to the hoop by executing cute and off the dribble. Can guard a couple different positions, so to mention.

• Magnus Entenmann (6'8” / PF / Upper Arlington / Nova-Lemon): Entenmann has broke the surface quickly, and will have all the opportunity needed with UA going forward. Due to graduation, the Golden Bears will need some players to keep getting better, Magnus is that guy. At six-foot-eight the forward plays above the rim. Uses baseline cuts to get behind the defense for an easy look at the rim. Has proven he can work the pick and roll or the pick and pop, with a decent jumper.

• Trey Woodyard (6'5” / SF / London / NEO Tru Game): Trey is one of the most well rounded scorers in the area. The leader of his London team since day one, and was impressive with Tru game last few months. The junior can shoot it, or use crafty play to get to the hoop. Has added strength that helps him convert tough baskets inside. Can handle the ball, uses length on defense - the London native has it all in his bag. Future mid-major

• Jack Pugh (6'5” / F / Hilliard Bradley): When Pugh is healthy, he has proven to be one of the best in the area. A strong, football like form, similar to his brother who is a tight end at Northwestern. Pugh plays tough, bangs down low for a bucket and plays physical. If Bradley had Pugh last year, it's tough to tell how far they could have went. But, he will be back and a major weapon for them this season.

• Chance Groce (6'4” / SG / Linden-McKinley / Columbus 101): Groce is the best prospect the city league has to offer in 2021, and a good one at that. Athletic wing player who can get his own bucket off the dribble and finishes tough at the hoop. Capable shooter, but isn't his calling card. A tough matchup in the transition. Has the length to be a good defender on the opposite end, also.
