We like to call them sleepers, or in this case deep sleepers. These prospects have what it takes to impact the next level, and probably will. Take a look at the deep sleepers at the point guard position!
(Number is their ranking)
Deep Sleepers:
107. Andre Irvin (5’7” / PG / Olentangy Orange / Nova-Lemon): Andre was solid as a sophomore, and had a good last few months. Undersized but still finds ways to create space and get a bucket. Handles the ball well, gets to his spot and doesn’t shy away from contact. Can work off the catch and shoot or dribble.
129. Eli Burke (5’10” / PG / Africentric / OYSB Red): Eli Burke is a crafty ball handler that can definitely go at the next level. Should be an improved part of a talented Nubians program this season, that will win some more games. Burke showed consistency in the pull up as well as finishing at the hoop maneuvering through contact.
135. Jack Christian (5’10” / PG / Marysville): Christian is a stud on the baseball diamond in the warm months, but can flat out play on the hardwood in the winter. Christian can fill it up when his three ball is dropping, which is often. Works well off screens, gets open looks and competes on both ends.
137. Carter Mims (5’6” / PG / Trotwood / Team Flyght): Carter Mims plays at a high intensity, and competes at all times. Jumps passing lanes, finishes in the open transition and gets to the hoop. Shorter guard, but finds a way to finish when he can. Always moving the ball, has a decent IQ for the game honestly.
138. Riley Gibson (6’0” / PG / Circleville / Pumas-Gilliland): Riley Gibson looked to add a little size over the last few months, which has benefited his game. Gibson can score from different levels, and controls the pace of game. Gibson works best on ball, where he can get through the lane or shoot off the bounce. I watched team Gilliland quite a few times the last few months, in which he impressed.
