Recruiting Report: Joemel McNair (2020)
Class of 2020 guard Joemel McNair, who has transferred to Eleanor Roosevelt, is preparing to make a significant impact this season. After a strong run of play on the grassroots circuit with Team Takeover Orange, McNair is most certainly a player to watch for the Raiders. During a recent interview with Prep Hoops, he discussed his overall game, recruitment and much more.
PH: For those who haven’t seen you play, how would you describe your overall game?
JM: “I would describe myself as a 3-dimensional scorer with a high basketball IQ. I make the right plays. I have the drive and motor to play both sides of the ball.”
PH: What’s something you do on the court that won’t show up on the stat sheet?
JM: “Forcing turnovers without just stealing the ball. I get deflections, disrupt players to lose the ball, and many other things to get the offensive team off the ball.”
PH: What part of your game are you working on right now?
JM: “I am constantly working with weights and disrupting muscle memory so that I can limit a lot things that can go wrong. As of now I’m just maintaining my tangibles and working on more leadership tactics.”
PH: Who is recruiting you?
JM: “Right now it’s Navy, Franklin and Marshall, VMI, Marymount, Army West Point, and Nichols College.”
PH: What schools have you visited? What schools do you want to visit?
JM: “I’ve visited Princeton, UPenn, and Columbia, id like to visit the schools recruiting me the hardest.”
PH: What factors are important to you when considering schools? What do you want to study?
JM: “I ask about their system and way that they play, and if I am able to major in engineering while playing for the team. My desired major is Computer Engineering.”
PH: What are your goals?
JM: “My main goal for the short-term is winning states this year. My intermediate goal is being able to pick a great fit for me for college and be able to attend college for free. Long-term is making money doing what I love for a living.”
PH: What can you bring to a college program?
JM: I can bring a two-way threat for other teams , learning mentality, bring leadership and be a great student providing no issues.
