A lot of national talent is on display in this division. The 8 team field includes, HYPE Hawks, Team EAT, Game Elite, Atlanta Xpress, Georgia Stars, Team YRN, Atlanta Celtics, and Team Forrest. All 8 of these teams has made noise on the spring circuit. Let’s take a look at the matchups and top players.
HYPE HAWKS VS TEAM EAT
One of the hottest names in the country for the 2021 class, is HYPE Hawks, Matthew Cleveland. He has been offered by over 20 schools this spring, most of the schools are HM and MM. According to some recruiting sites, he is closing in on a 5 star ranking. Add Logan Turner, 6-2 and Cole Middleton 6-6 to the mix, the Hawks are a team to be reckoned with. Team EAT is a team that likes to shoot the 3 ball. They will definitely give Hype Hawks all they can handle. Team EAT is one of the most underrated independent teams in the country. They are always a tough team to play.
GAME ELITE VS ATLANTA XPRESS
Two shoe circuit teams collide when Adidas Gauntlet member, Game Elite takes on UAA circuit team Atlanta Xpress. Kaleb Washington and Robbie Armbrester are the two main guys for Game Elite. Omarion Smith is another big contributor for Game Elite. Atlanta Xpress has made some noise on the UAA circuit. The Xpress is one of the highest scoring teams on the UAA circuit. Look for this game to be a fast paced contest.
GEORGIA STARS VS TEAM YRN
One of the best matchups regardless of divisions is this matchup between Georgia Stars and Team YRN. Team YRN(Young rich nation), this is a matchup you dream for as an independent team. Playing a shoe circuit team is what you want. Team YRN is led by 6-7 Issac Abidde. The big man dominates the paint while Travis Burris and Marius Ellis control the perimeter. Georgia Stars, is led by 6-10 Frankie Anselem and 6-5 Chance Moore. This is a big time tune up for the Stars as they prepare for the Nike Peach Jam next week in Augusta. Don’t be surprised the Stars win this event and the Peach Jam.
ATLANTA CELTICS VS TEAM FORREST
The final matchup puts two of the top programs in the state against each other. The Celtics have the number one junior in the state in 6-8 Jabari Smith. Smith, won a gold medal with Team USA during the FIBA U-16 Americas tournament, also participated in the NBAPA Top 100 camp in Virginia. Smith will earn a 5 star before the summer ends. Smith has a lot of help on his squad. Danny Stubbs and Jusaun Holt helps the Celtics on this July run. Team Forrest, one of the top independent programs in the state, has an array of talent on their squad. Team Forrest, plays a physical brand of basketball. Don’t be surprised they pull the upset in this one.
