The Chieftains are a rebuilding team with a few returning starters. Boasting one of the most dominant back-courts in the state last season, Sapulpa will be looking to replace a few heavy producers in its 2019 class.
Sapulpa performed well at the OSU camp, competing against some of the top talent in 6A and holding its own on the court. Offensively, the Chieftains have some wrinkles to iron out before the regular season, but certainly has scorers to utilize.
Defensively, the Chieftains are a very solid team with great chemistry and energy. They caused many blunders and slowed opposing teams’ offensive production
Hunter Hoggatt 2020 combo
Senior Hunter Hoggatt, a returning starter from last year’s squad, is one of the most talented shooters in the state and showed up ready to prove it last weekend. Though he’s previously been often resigned to the corners and wings to shoot from the catch, Hoggatt seemed to be exploring the drive more often in Stillwater. He also appears to have grown some, which may be prompting him to take the ball to the rim more.
Tezohn Taft 2021 guard
Tezohn Taft is a crafty, relentless guard who can generate playmaking for the Chieftains with consistency. Taft moves the ball especially well in motion and can create plays in transition. He brings intensity to the floor and has a high motor. His ball-handling is efficient and he does a great job at keeping the ball in Sapulpa’s possession.
Eli Williams 2020 forward
A top recruit in the 2020 Oklahoma football class, Eli Williams took a break from slinging touchdowns in 7-on-7s to compete on the hardwood in Stillwater. Williams is a highly explosive athlete with a strong frame, playing at the high post and anchoring things on the defensive end of the floor for Sapulpa. He has great footwork, moves well in the post and concentrates opposing defenses.
