Recruiting Report: Earl Timberlake (2020)
Earl Timberlake is on a strong run of play with Team Durant, and has seen his recruitment go to another level as a result. Timberlake’s consistent productivity and ability to impact the game in multiple ways are a huge reason why his team qualified for Peach Jam. During an interview at Top-100 Camp, Timberlake discussed his recruitment in detail.
PH: This is your second time at Top-100 Camp. How would you compare the two experiences?
ET: “Going in I knew what to expect. The long days and stuff. Last year I didn’t know going into it we were going to be in here all day. So this time I knew what to expect.”
PH: How was the official visit you took to South Carolina?
ET: “It was love. Going into it, I was really excited. I was kind of overwhelmed. I met all the players and stuff. It was a great visit overall.”
PH: Did they say how to wanted to use you?
ET: “Kind of the way I’m playing right now. Playing multiple positions. Doing everything on the court.”
PH: What other schools would you like to visit?
ET: “I want to visit Alabama for sure. Also Pittsburgh and maybe Seton Hall.”
PH: Tony Skinn of Seton Hall is a DMV guy. What’s been the message from him, and what do you like about the program?
ET: “He’s from the area. He always preaches how he wants me to be his first player that he brings to Seton Hall from the Area. I saw the way they play this year. They went in the tournament. I like the way Myles Powell plays.”
PH: What other schools have you visited?
ET: “I took an official to Providence. It was good. I took it during their first game of the season. I hung out with AJ Reeves and David Duke. I’m really cool with them. I talk to them about Providence a lot.”
PH: What are you hearing from Louisville?
ET: “Coach Pegues says the same thing that coach Skinn says. I might visit Louisville.”
PH: How do you feel about Pittsburgh?
ET: I’m real cool with Xavier (Johnson) and Trey (McGowens). I talk to them almost every day. They always tell me coach (Jeff) Capel is going to let me play and it’s a good school for me.”
PH: What about Alabama?
ET: “Coach (Nate) Oats and Coach Bryan (Hodgson) always preach to me how I fit their playing style. They get out and run. That’s what I do.”
PH: What is the timeline for your decision?
ET: “No timeline yet.”
PH: What are you looking for in a school? Whats going to weigh-in to your decision?
ET: “Fit and development. I want to go somewhere family-oriented. Somewhere that will help me get to my overall goal.”
