With a few months left of AAU basketball and as high school teams start to gear up for camps we will start to notice more sleeper prospects. Unfortunately there are a lot of prospect in this class as well as the 2021 class that often times get overlooked. It could be because of their lack of play at the varsity level or they could be simply overlooked.
The last couple of years if you have noticed you could look down at the Northridge High School bench and you would see a lanky player that seemed to just get taller and taller. The kid could light it up from deep during warm ups but would rarely get varsity minutes.
Now standing at 6’5 Trey Simms III will have his shot to do what he does on the grassroots circuit at the high school level. Although Trey has sat varsity since his sophomore year but rarely saw the floor. With a new coach and a new opportunity Trey will make the best of his time on the court regardless. With more than half of his points coming from beyond the arc Trey will need to really make it his goal to get to the basket so that he could keep defenses honest. He will have to figure out ways to get to the free-throw line and get others involved.
Trey currently plays for the Salt Lake Rebels where he plays in an open set that allows freedom for him to create and shoot. Trey is one of those underrated prospects who will likely move up the player rankings as he sees more time on the court. Trey will be able to use his length to rebound and push the ball as a bigger guard. This ability will make him a valuable commodity for coaches looking for bigger guards at the next level.
With good grades and a drive to be better Trey is a sleeper prospect to keep an eye out for.
