Pt. I | Pt. II | Pt. III | Pt. IV
Hunter Hoggatt 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP Red 17U/Sapulpa wing (pictured above)
- Off-ball shooter
- Efficient
Hunter Hoggatt was one of the most all-around talented scorers in the 17U bracket, but he especially stood out in the shooting game. Hoggatt loves the right corner and wing (from the baseline’s perspective) and thanks to his 6-foot-4-inch frame, defenders cannot easily stop him from getting his shot. He has a quick-fire release on the catch and especially-long arms, helping him to finish shots over defenders. Once he gets hot from these spots, he can orchestrate a standing ovation from the spectators around him, as his release of the ball commands supporters – and even some adversaries – to rise to their feet in awe of his repetitive 3-point shooting excellence.
Conner Calavan 2020 Tulsa Hawks 17U/Fort Gibson guard
- High volume
- Sharpshooter
Conner Calavan has been widely-regarded as one of the best shooters on the east-side of the state and only placed more raffle tickets towards his bid for that title at the State Tournament. Calavan can go off for five or more 3-pointers in any given contest, but still manages his shot selection to ensure efficiency. In fact, he was one of the most efficient shooters on the floor over the weekend. Calavan has a smooth, repetitive and practiced motion that he enacts uncompromisingly every time he steps in the gym.
Ben White 2020 Oklahoma Irish 17U/Edmond Memorial guard
- Versatile
- Deep shooter
Nobody further raised his own stock at the Oklahoma State Tournament, perhaps, than Edmond Memorial’s Ben White, a 6-foot-4 perimeter player who could create his own shot at the top of the key or from the catch at the wings. Most surprisingly, he generated energy for his team with deep shooting on more than one occasion, turning heads and raising eyebrows throughout the gym.
Jaxson Robinson 2021 Team Griffin 16U/Ada wing
- Catch-and-shoot
- Volume shooter
Jaxson Robinson produced yet another fantastic weekend shooting from the wing. The corner cavalier was unstoppable from the corners at the State Tournament, where his 6-foot-6-inch frame just eclipsed opposing defenders. He’s a sneaky catch-and-shoot guy, outlasting defenses in off-ball movement and benefiting from great cross-court passing from his teammates. When it comes time, Robinson is always ready to hit the shot and put his team ahead, and he shoots at a high percentage from these spots while still frequently hitting four, five or more shots from this spot each contest.
