Matt’s Standouts from the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament Friday Night
On opening night at the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament, I was able to see several good matchups. Here are a few highlights from the evening starting with the best game.
Oklahoma Power vs. Team Buddy Buckets 17U
This game lived up to the billing going down to the wire. Oklahoma Power got off to a fast start only to be matched by Buddy Buckets quickly. From that point on it was a dog fight. James Locke and Niko Williams scored the ball really well for Oklahoma Power. Cooper Peterson also had a great game starring in his role as a three-point shot maker and defensive guy. For Buddy Buckets Sam Godwin came up huge down the stretch. Demontreal Crutchfield scored the rock well especially when Buddy Buckets needed it the most. This was one of those game that the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament was exactly created for giving two good Oklahoma teams the opportunity to battle it out in Oklahoma.
Zander Baker-Bluitt 2023 Oklahoma Hoops Point Guard
Baker-Bluitt was everywhere on the floor on Friday night. You could put him in the top scorers, passers, glue guys and many more list with his high-level play. Baker-Bluitt is undersized but is the definition of heart over height. The quick pace he plays with at the Point Guard spot makes him tough to stay in front of no only opening lanes for him to score but ones for teammates as well.
Davion Warden 2020 Team Griffin Wing
Warden was all over the court leading Team Griffin to a blowout victory in the opening round. The aggressive nature of Warden attacking the basket led to great success on offense. Other areas to note were how hard he plays on the defensive end. Warden is starting to attract D2 interest.
Collin Morrison Tulsa Hawks 2021 Forward
Morrison was fantastic on opening night. When talking about the bright spots of the night he is near the top of the list. Morrison played great getting the ball on the low block and finishing strong. NAIA and D2s should start keeping tabs on him. He attends Bishop Kelley High School.
MJ Warrior BTR 2020 Point Guard
Tonight was MJ’s night from three-point land. He was on fire, to say the least showing off his smooth jumper. Warrior is opening eyes this summer with not only his scoring but the way he can share the ball at the Point.
Niko Williams 2020 Oklahoma Power Guard
Williams was great at finding his way to the bucket off the bounce and sharp cuts to the basket tonight. He ended up leading the way for Oklahoma Power in what was a strong showing on opening night.
Demontreal Crutchfield 2020 Team Buddy Buckets Guard
With Buddy Buckets down KD Jolly, they needed someone to step up and carry some of the load. Crutchfield did just that hitting timely shots off the bounce for them. Crutchfield is starting to play some of his best basketball of the spring the last couple of weeks.
James Locke 2021 Oklahoma Power Wing
Locke shot the lights out on Friday night helping Oklahoma Power to a great showing against a tough Buddy Buckets squad. Locke is showing he is a player D2s need to take strong note of in the 2021 Class.
Jake Gendron 2021 Tulsa Hawks Guard
Gendron was cooking tonight scoring a team-high 28 points for the Tulsa Hawks 17U. Yes, you read that correctly Gendron plays up an age. When he is locked in as he was tonight you can see why he is earning his way into the top 50 in the 2021 Oklahoma Class.
