As a team, Sussex Hamilton had some noteworthy accomplishments in the 2018-19 season. “Overall it was a great year. We won our conference for the first time since 2013. We also went to the sectional finals for the second straight year but lost in overtime to the eventual state champs, Brookfield Central. It didn’t end the way we wanted it to but we won a ton of games and we will stay in the gym until we reach our ultimate goal,” said Resch. The Chargers will have a chance to reach their ultimate goal in the 2019-20 season and are ranked as the best team in Prep Hoops Wisconsin’s Way-Too-Early Ranking For D-1 in 2019-20.
Patrick Baldwin Jr. has been regarded as one of the best high school basketball players in the 2021 class. The Sussex Hamilton forward gets a lot of credit for the Charger’s great success, but Resch has been the linchpin of the 2018-19 GMC champions. The duo of Resch and Baldwin Jr. make up one of the best tandems in the state. “Playing with a high-level player like him brings out the best in everyone. We have good chemistry together. It has been great to have him on our team now, especially since we used to compete against each other when we were kids in AAU. We have a similar drive and do shooting workouts together. He is a special player and a great person,” stated Resch. With both players tearing it up on the AAU Circuit, they are primed for a big season when they team up once again at Hamilton.
Resch and his Hamilton teammates are poised for a big season, but his focus right now is on the AAU season. The point guard recently switched AAU programs. Resch previously played for Phenom University, but is now suiting up for Wisconsin Swing . “ Wisconsin Swing was a good fit for me. Making this move allows me to play more point guard and be a playmaker by pushing the ball in transition,” said the 6’0″ guard.
In addition to playing AAU for Swing, Resch will be putting in a lot of work on his own time. “I will be in the gym every day to work on all aspects of my game. I want to put a lot of time in my pull-up jumper and finishing through contact. I also want to work on my leadership. “
Tanner Resch will not get a lot of credit for Sussex Hamilton’s success, but he should. Last year, when Resch scored in double-figures, the Chargers lost just one contest. When he finds the basket – they win. Expect a lot of winning for Resch and Sussex Hamilton come the fall.
