The 6-foot-4 shooting guard has the size and physical tools to stand out, and whether it’s scoring at all three levels offensively, or D’ing up, Richard is a guy who’s a major difference-maker whenever he steps on the floor.
“I just score when my team needs me to, shooting, taking it to the basket and using my floater; and I like to defend a lot, too,” said Richard, who’s working to become more of a primary ball-handler.
“One thing I’m really working on is my ball-handling, I need to be able to take the ball and make myself more comfortable with my point guard skills.”
As a sophomore this past season at Fayette County, Richard was a key player on the state runner-up Tigers. He was especially effective on the glass.
“My role as to score and I did a lot of rebounding. I led the rebounding and averaged 10 points and seven rebounds, so it went real well,” he said.
Now, with Atlanta Xpress 16u on the Under Armour Circuit, Richard is continuing to develop into one of the state’s top up-and-coming prospects.
“My spring is going really well people are starting to talk about me a lot,” said Richard. “My role with Xpress is to score, so whenever they need me to score I can. I get up a lot of shots and then just play defense.”
Recruitment: “I know my AAU coach has said there’s a lot of coaches calling him about me,” said Richard. “I know it’s coming, I’m just being patient.”
