MAX BROOKS | 6’6 F | 17U PREMIER/GREAT MILLS ‘20
Max Brooks had a nice showing this afternoon vs. Oklahoma Run PWP. The versatile 6-foot-6 forward is still putting things together offensively but has intriguing versatility on that end. Brooks is best in transition when filling the lanes and finishing inside but you can also occasionally throw it down to him on the low block in a half court set. It should also be noted that Brooks has tangible physical tools that can’t be taught and his defensive potential is significant.
MITCHELL FISCHER | 6’8 F/C | 17U THRILL/LOYOLA ‘20
The award for best team defender of the day goes to Mitchell Fischer. He’s a marginal athlete, but definitely knows how to play and displays an incredibly high work rate. Fischer took several charges and fought for 50/50 balls. Offensively, he was a threat to pick and pop or score with his back to the basket in the post.
CARLOS HUBB | 6’2 G | 17U REMIER/GONZAGA ‘20
Carlos Hubb caught fire and almost single-handedly sparked a second half comeback vs. Oklahoma Run PWP. He was stroking trey balls off the catch, in spot up situations, and while pulling up off the bounce. Hubb also attacked close outs aggressively and when the defense took away his drive to the basket was able to pull up and knock down the mid-range jumper. Another thing that was impressive about his performance was the hustle plays he made defensively. Hubb raced back for a memorable chase down block in crunch time to help keep his team in it.
MALIK MISSOURI | 6’4 F | 16U THRILL/GILMAN ‘21
Listed at just 6-foot-4, but with a 7-foot wingspan, Malik Missouri can impact the game in so many ways when he’s locked in. He reacted quickly to 50/50 balls, came up with steals, floor dives, and so many other hustle plays during his team’s hard-fought 2-point win over West Coast Elite NorCal. Offensively, he was best in transition where he filled the lanes correctly and demonstrated good body control. Missouri also showed that he had the strength to finish through contact as well as in traffic.
MATTHEW NUNEZ | 6’10 C | 16U WAWG/WOODSIDE ‘21
There is certainly a lot to like about Matthew Nunez. At 6-foot-10, he’s a fundamentally sound big man who can score inside but also step out and knock down shots from the perimeter despite his unorthodox shot mechanics. Nunez got easy buckets in transition as a result of his rim running. Defensively, he’s disruptive at the rim due to his length and verticality.
