The last day of the one and only spring live period was also yesterday and college coaches were all around the gym. Head coaches from Kansas, Michigan State, Duke, Kentucky, Virginia, Iowa State, Arizona State, Texas, Texas A&M, and others were all around the gym last weekend. Find out who stoodout on day 3.
2020 SG Brandon Boston Jr. of Athletes of Tomorrow (GA) – The 6-foot-7 wing Brandon Boston Jr. had himself a day yesterday on the Atlanta session’s final day of the Nike EYBL. His matchup against current top-10 junior prospect SG Jalen Green drew a pretty decent crowd of spectators and college coaches for an early morning start. BJ finished with a 27 point performance and an impressive one at that. He continues to show his slashing, cutting to the basket skills and finishing plays around the rim. He can score in so many ways on the floor and that is exactly what makes him a top-10 prospect in the 2020 class.
2020 F Myles Wilmoth of Albany City Rocks (NY) – A name most of us have probably not have heard of was Myles Wilmoth. He is a 6-foot-9 highly versatile forward who showed his skills on Sunday in Albany City Rock’s two games. Myles was able to guard multiple positons defensively and had the skill set to score inside and outside offensively. He holds long arms and is an interesting high level mid major prospect. As he grows, he will potentially become a three or even a stretch four man in certain situations at the next level.
2021 PG Kennedy Chandler of Mokan Elite (KS) pictured – One prospect who stood out during the only spring live period as an underclassmen was Kenneday Chandler, the 6-foot-1 point guard out of Tennessee. The 2021 point guard is a serious floor general and distributor. His stellar playmaking abilities and sneaky passing skills earned him a few offers this past weekend in Atlanta. Chandler could be on the move to rise his stock throughout the spring, summer.
Marquette commit 2020 G Symir Torrence of Albany City Rocks (NY) – Marquette commit 2020 G Symir Torrence gave the Marquette coaching staff a preview on what he could certainly bring to the program in a couple years. Symir went off for a 21 point performance in front of the Marquette head coach Steve Wojciechowski and assistants. He is a 6-foot-3 combo guard who contains the combination of scoring and distributing. Torrence can hit contested jump shots, finish in the lane through traffic, and just has that serious toughness about him.
2020 PG Jamal Mashburn Jr. of PSA Cardinals (NY) – Jamal Mashburn Jr., son of former NBA player Jamal Mashburn, stood out this past weekend with his new PSA Cardinals (NY) team in Atlanta. He is currently ranked dead last in the 2020 class according to ESPN but that could certainly change quick. Mashburn Jr. has an improved body it seems after only a year at powerhouse Brewster Academy (NH). He dropped 25 points in the game I witnessed in a win for the PSA Cardinals. Jamal was absolutely on fire, knocking down shots from basically anywhere on the floor, and making sure he gets to the right spots.
2021 PG Daeshun Ruffin of MEBO Express (MS) – The 5-foot-10 sophomore sensation Daeshun Ruffin had himself a weekend in Atlanta. Running the point guard duties in the 17U division for MEBO Express (MS), Ruffin is currently averaging nearly 30 points per game after the first session of the Nike EYBL. He is a speedy, quick point guard who can look like a blur in the open floor. He has so much respect that he was actually double teamed and face guarded the whole game that I witnessed. Mr. Ruffin could blow up this AAU season and will have a dynamic spring, summer if he continues to play like he did this past weekend.
