Gathering a list of players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was a tall task, but we do our best to keep them updated every three months. Our recent update includes an increase in the number of players ranked from 135 to 175. Here we begin our breakdown series by highlighting five stock risers.
#53 | GERARD MUNGO | 6’0 PG | PATTERSON | PREVIOUS RANK: 81
Mungo was a versatile contributor during Patterson’s run to the 2A State Title. His ability to knock down shots from spot up situations, play smart defense, and keep the ball moving are some of his main selling points. It will be interesting to see how Mungo can impact the program at Millersville next season.
#64 | ANTHONY BOWMAN | 6’4 SF | ST. CHARLES | PREVIOUS RANK: 77
St. Charles ran much of their offense through Anthony Bowman this season. The energetic wing prospect is a terrific facilitator of offense who can get to the basket, seek contact in the lane or knock down shots from long range.
#67 | JAAMIR BUTLER | 6’3 SG/SF | ELEANOR ROOSEVELT | PREVIOUS RANK: 101
One thing we didn’t realize until this season was just how good of a ball-handler Jaamir Butler is. The 6-foot-3 wing has always showcased a smooth stroke from the perimeter, but he’s clearly worked hard to improve his handle and the results were evident this year as he was able to slash into the paint and score consistently in traffic.
#77 | ROBERT BOOKER | 6’5 PF/C | TAKOMA ACADEMY | PREVIOUS RANK: 116
Robert Booker is a nice sleeper in the local 2019 class. He’s an adept finisher in the paint thanks to his blend of length and touch, but can also hold his own defensively as a rim protector thanks to his impeccable timing. Booker is coming off a productive senior campaign and has a strong academic record which should give him plenty of options at the next level.
#79 | JACK LEWIS | 6’3 SF/PF | SIDWELL FRIENDS | PREVIOUS RANK: 108
Jack Lewis has been the unsung hero for Sidwell all season, but did earn All-MAC honors as a result of his efforts. The 6-foot-3 southpaw is a tough competitor who is efficient with the ball and can score from all three levels. Lewis has the ability to defend on the wing or inside, and that versatility should help him earn immediate playing time at the next level.
