ROBINSON FACILITATES NCA OFFENSE
Jakai Robinson stood out as not just a go-to scorer, but a reliable playmaker for NCA Head Coach Trevor Brown. The left-handed 6-foot-5 sophomore demonstrated a confident handle and the ability to run offense efficiently. One thing that makes Robinson a tough matchup for most is his ability to consistently hit tough shots from all over the floor.
SCRAPPY RIVERDALE TEAM COMES UP SHORT
Riverdale lost a close one to NCA, but the Crusaders can be proud of their effort. Unsigned seniors Jordan Johnson, Charles Creek and Myles Anderson all had nice moments. They played well as a team and played hard.
FAUNTLEROY, HUNT & MATTEWS PROPEL ROCK CREEK
With Guy Fauntleroy struggling to find his rhythm in the first quarter, Milton Matthews picked up the slack with DeLonnie Hunt facilitating the offense. After his initial struggles, Fauntleroy broke out to score 12 points in the second quarter, and that jumpstarted his team’s offense.
YOUNG PROSPECTS SHOW SIGNS FOR CCA
With just one senior on their roster, Capital Christian’s young players were thrust into major roles, and a few of them showed good potential. While skilled and versatile wing Johnny Mendez was the primary standout, Javon Adams, Ryder Vargas, and David Onanina each had their moments.
GROSS & WILLIAMSON DO THE DIRTY WORK
Rock Creek sophomores James Gross and Zaakir Williamson deserve mention for the things they did that won’t show up on the stat sheet. Both played hard, fought for 50/50 balls, and rebounded.
