Teams:
No. 2 Booker T. Washington (22-2)
Led by the trio of Bryce Thompson, Trey Phipps, and Seth Hurd, the Booker T. Washington Hornets have just a pair of losses headed into the Area Tournament. The Hornets will look to push their way through area to re-establish their status as a formidable 6A team after spending a season in 5A.
No. 4 Sapulpa (20-4)
Sapulpa is the team looking to play spoiler this year, and the Chieftains will be able to take their next step towards their goals this weekend. They will look to seniors Camryn Dennis and Julian Smith for leadership and offensive production.
No. 5 Sand Springs (17-7)
Sand Springs has one of the most talented back-courts on the East side of the state, a point that will be crucial to the Sandites’ success. Cole Durkee, Marlo Fox, Davon Richardson, and Josh Minney will need to establish their guard production this weekend and assert a defensive presence.
No. 9 Union (15-9)
Seth Chargois and Quinten Harvey will need to have a good weekend as the ninth-ranked Union Redskins will be not of the most touted squads on the East. Union is a team in the hunt but not quite a lock at this point and can push into the dance this weekend.
No. 10 Jenks (18-6)
Seniors point guards Tristan Hines and Jordan McAlester are two of the most talented shooters in the Area Tournament. If the Trojans can get hot from range, they can find their way into the final eight teams in contention
No. 11 Southmoore (17-8)
Southmoore is another dark horse team poised to assert its dominance and establish itself as a powerhouse in 6A. The unconventional but efficient point guard Jordan Thompson, joined in the back-court by junior Darrin Ryan, can shoot the lights out of the gym. Forward Sam Godwin puts the icing on the cake for this team.
No. 15 Owasso (16-9)
The explosive play from Seth Pomeroy and Hayden Peterson will anchor Owasso’s efforts to push out into the conversation and, more importantly, into the State Tournament.
No. 16 Putnam City North (12-13)
The defending State Champions have the pedigree and leader to pick up wins this weekend. Senior Micah Thomas is one of the most lethal shooters in the state, and has the experience to lead this team in the right direction.
