Although the GHSA state championships are not for another week or so, the GISA state championships will be this week and boy do we have a good one to look forward too. The Heritage School and Holy Spirit Prep will face off for the fourth time this season, but this time in the GISA 3A state championship.
These two have had competitve battles all year long and one where The Heritage School defeated Holy Spirit Prep by a buzzer beater in their region tournament. Georgia commit 2019 SG Anthony Edwards finished with a game high 41 points for Holy Spirit Prep and Gardner-Webb commit 2019 PG Lance Terry finished with 34 points for The Heritage School in that same contest. Crazy to say also both Edwards and Terry were AAU teammates for Atlanta Xpress (GA) in the UAA circuit last summer.
Holy Spirit Prep will be looking for a three-peat this year by winning the GISA 3A title game and HC Tysor Anderson will be looking to capture his first state championship as the first year head coach for Holy Spirit Prep. Both programs have been super battle tested all season long and all those battles comes down to tonights final matchup. The state title game is expected to begin tonight at 8:20 local time at Georgia Southwestern State college.
