Over his high school career at Edison Stefone Richardson has been spectacular. Hall of Fame Head Coach Nolan Richardson is the grandfather of Stefone. After watching him for a little it is easy to tell, Stefone has the basketball family genes in his game.
He is a great scorer with the ball in his hands using his quickness to get his shot off at any moment. Richardson plays hard at both ends of the floor taking pride on the defensive end. The high intensity and quickness Richardson brings to the floor give opponents trouble.
He has a nasty crossover that leaves defenders in the dust. The speed of Richardson with the rock in his hands allow him to get open looks. Defenders that are quick and can stay in Richardson’s grill often still have trouble guarding him because he has a nice fade away jumper off the dribble.
Richardson currently holds a Division I offer from Sam Houston State and is receiving interest from several other programs.
“Sam Houston has offered me,” Richardson said. “North Dakota has called me this week expressing interest.”
Richardson has a good idea of what he is looking for in a college basketball program.
“I am looking at the atmosphere,” Richardson said. “I want to see how the staff is and how do they work together. I want to see if I can be me at that school”
This past weekend at Tulsa Team Camp Richardson found his groove. He dominated the competition dropping 30 plus points in several running clock games. Richardson says playing with Oklahoma Run PWP on the Under Armour Circuit has given him a new perspective. With PWP Richardson comes off to the bench, but with Edison Richardson is the man and has been since his freshmen season.
“For me what I have learned is the competition on the Under Armour Circuit is high and coming off the bench for PWP it is hard, but I want to play my role for the team to win,” Richardson said. “At Edison they need me to score so it is has been good being able to see both sides.”
Richardson is a volume shooter at the Point that brings a lot to the table that many college programs would appreciate. Richardson has high goals for his senior season at Edison.
“My goals are to help the team win, make the team better every day,” Richardson said. “Get the team excited. Win more games and make my teammates more comfortable.”
Richardson is working hard in the weight room this offseason. Another area the lefty Richardson is trying to improve is his right hand.
“I am trying to gain weight,” Richardson said. “Working on my right and having a better IQ of the game.”
Richardson projects as a Division I prospect at the next level.
