Recruiting Report: Adam Sizemore (2019)
One of 2019’s most discussed prospects right now is North Laurel’s 5-foot-9 point guard Adam Sizemore.
The level-headed and basketball-savvy sophomore-to-be hasn’t seen much recruitment come his way just yet, but that’s to be expected from a kid so young.
He has seen some mail come his way though, and hopes this summer on the 15U circuit his stock can continue to rise.
“I’ve received three letters, that’s it. One is from Eastern Kentucky, one is from University of Tennessee-Martin, and one is from Centre College — those are all just letters though,” said Sizemore, who understands that hard work is the way to success.
“The only way my recruitment will come together is if I put the work in this summer, so I can’t take any days off. I got to be in the gym every day working on something, and then that will show the results of what I want to happen. And that’s getting some offers before senior year.”
Though he’s small, Sizemore’s court-awareness and basketball IQ are what separates him from his peers. And he says he’s continually working this offseason to make himself better.
“My strengths would have to be my ball-handling for sure, my passing ability, and just the way I can see the game. I feel I have a really good basketball IQ,” said Sizemore.
“Two things I really need to work on before next season would have to be my lateral quickness from east to west, and my leg strength, because I need to be as strong in fourth quarters as I am in the first.”
As a freshman last season with the Jaguars he averaged 5.5 points, 4.8 assists, and 2 steals per game; Sizemore was a set-up guy, and relished that role.
“They just asked me to be myself and make the right decision. And my main job was to set teammates up to where I could put them in good positions, and put our team in a good place,” said Sizemore, who will play with Hoops Dreams this summer.
“There’s a lot of good kids on that team, and my job is to make everyone play as a unit and make sure there are no selfish attitudes there. I could care less if I play five minutes or 30, as long as I get the win that’s what’s most important.”
He added: “I want to get a lot of looks this summer, my personal goal is just to get my name out there. That’s what I want to do on the court.”
