Ben Smith 2019 Edmond Santa Fe Forward
After playing a half early in the tournament a little timid Smith brought his hard hat and went to work the rest of the tournament. When Smith is locked in and attacking the basket opponents have a tough time trying to slow him down with his length and athleticism. Smith is bouncy adding to his ability to finish. Over his career, Smith has also gotten a lot tougher helping him to become an elite finisher when he attacks the basket.
Terrance Hill 2021 Edmond Santa Fe Forward
This guy was fun to watch in the championship game for the Wolves. Hill went to work using his short, but strong frame to his advantage amongst the tall trees inside. He gave the Wolves a massive boost on Saturday with his ability to use his body to his advantage over the taller defenders. When he elevates his game to the level he did on Saturday Edmond Santa Fe is extremely hard to beat.
Seth Hurd 2019 Booker T. Washington Forward
Hurd did a great job of using his high basketball IQ to help him score all weekend long. The timing of Hurd shooting the ball down the low is everything. He gets defenders off guard or up in the air and takes advantage. The fact that Hurd is not the bounciest or tallest does not hinder Hurd due to his smart plays around the basket.
Ira Richardson 2019 Union Wing
Richardson had a nice tournament driving the ball strong to the rack with authority. The toughness, athleticism, and quickness allowed Richardson to blaze to the basket and exploit openings in the defense. When he gets going downhill he is tough to slow down. What you have to love about his game is the shots he takes are very high percentage looks.
Quentin Harvey 2019 Union Forward
Small colleges this is a guy you want in on right now. I am shocked NAIA and JUCO programs have not found Harvey yet. He is a long lanky Forward with a smooth jumper. Harvey makes this particular list because over the past year he has become comfortable with playing inside using his 6’8 size and length. He had a huge weekend for Union.
Peyton Golightly 2019 Jenks Forward
Golightly uses his tall and strong frame to his advantage on the block. “Bully” would be a great way to describe the ease Golightly scores with when he has a smaller defender against him down low. He will make a nice small college basketball player for someone at the next level. The fact Golightly is not afraid to play down low will help him succeed.
Brock Davis 2020 Holland Hall Forward
The thin frame of Davis can fool you at first sight into thinking he can not finish against the tall trees inside. However, as Davis is given opportunities inside he is stellar at finding ways to get the ball in the bottom of the net, even through contact. Davis had as many and-ones as anyone at the tournament this weekend.
Ryan Miller 2021 PC North Forward
He is extremely small to be a primary post player for any team in Class 6A but do not tell him that. Miller was key for PC North on offense driving the ball with authority to the basket. He gave the Panthers a huge boost off the bench. It seemed as the opportunities got bigger, Miller finished even better.
