The Holy Spirit Prep Cougars were one of the Georgia programs and this trip marked their fifth out of state trip for the year. The Cougars were only actually scheduled to play one game and head back home but due to the snowy weather in the northeast, a few programs could not make the trip and scheduling had to be changed a bit. With Imhotep Charter (PA) deciding they could not make the trip to Springfield, Holy Spirit Prep volunteered to face powerhouse Montverde Academy (FL) on Saturday night. Anthony Edwards against one of the nations top programs? Sure why not.
The game was not as close and Montverde Academy (FL) jumped on Holy Spirit Prep from the tip. Double teams were thrown at star 2019 SG Anthony “Ant-Man” Edwards all game long but he still was able to finish with a team high 24 points against a talented team. The Cougars ended up losing 69-42 to Montverde Academy (FL). Their second game was against Long Island Lutheran (NY) on Sunday night, a game they were already scheduled to play before facing Montverde Academy (FL).
Their matchup with Long Island Lutheran (NY) was much better than the previous game against Montverde Academy (FL). Even though Holy Spirit Prep did not take a lead in the game, they were still in reaching distance and competed at a high level.
