The cerebral 6-foot, 165-pound point guard knows that while the Beavers don’t have a sterling W-L record, they have been competitive in every game. So as he continues to work on his college recruitment, the senior is also honed in on helping his team get on the winning track.
“We’re 7-7 right now but I think in every game we’ve been right there,” Rosenthal said. “If just a couple of plays had gone the other way at the end – they’ve been mainly all close ones, maybe within one or two possessions.”
“For instance, last Friday we lost by two in a tough one where we had like four good clean open game-winning looks and two of them went in and out,” he added. “But we’ll keep pushing and keep on working – that’s all we can do.”
The game referenced is a 52-49 home loss to Sunset that came down to the wire. In the contest, Rosenthal was solid with his floor leadership and scoring, hitting a couple of tough runners and layups in the second half to keep Beaverton close. In general, he’s been happy with his play.
“I think I’ve been definitely been a better leader this season and I’ve set the tone and defensively I’ve been aggressve,” Rosenthal said. “I’ve been shooting the ball a lot better compared to years past and my confidence has definitely grown there.”
As Rosenthal has been playing he’s also been working on his college recruitment. He’s staying open but at the same time is gathering plenty of intel. “I haven’t made any commitments yet but I’m actually visiting a couple of schools in the next two weeks,” Rosenthal said. “MacAlester College, Colorado College, and the University of Rochester.”
While he take his visits, Rosenthal is planning on taking his time. A big reason why is there are some bigger fish to fry right now – the opponents left on the schedule. “I definitely think that we can compete with anybody in the Metro League,” Rosenthal said. “We’re growing as a team even though we’ve taken some losses. I can definitely see us going on a run that nobody expects the rest of this league.”
Rosenthal currently ranks as the #76 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings.
