Northwest Classen: Davion Warden.
Davion Warden is just more athletic than everyone else on the court in 95 percent of the games he plays in. He’s not overly tall, he’s scrawny but he’s an absolute talent and that was displayed on Thursday night, the first night of the Edmond Open. He finished with 14 points.
Santa Fe: Donovan Vickers.
Vickers is the heart and soul of the Wolves and that’s evident but just like many of the Open’s first-round matchups, he wasn’t asked to do much offensively. However, he did find a way to be productive on the defensive end of the floor. He forced 4 turnovers in the first half alone and helped set his teammates up for multiple fastbreak buckets. Vickers finished with 11 points.
Edmond Memorial: Drew Tennial.
As many already know, Drew Tennial is a physical specimen. As many also already know, what makes Tennial a division one prospect is his ability to do more than score the ball. More specifically, on defense. Against Capitol Hill, you could tell how much more physically advanced he was against the average high school kid. As a high school senior, Tennial looks like a college upperclassman.
Tennial finished with 8 points and numerous steals.
Edmond Memorial: Parker Clarita.
Just like Tennial, Clarita didn’t have to do much against the Capitol Hill Indians. He played a little after halftime but was out after the first four minutes of the third quarter. However, when he was in, he was automatic from the floor. Clarita missed one shot for the game and finished with 10 points.
On an average night, Clarita is a stat-stuffer but that wasn’t needed on night one.
