The Atlantic 10 Team Recruiting Rankings
The Atlantic 10 Conference is a respected league and the 14 programs within the conference continue to bring in solid recruits. What A10 programs are having the best year on the recruiting trail? Prep Hoops breaks it down.
One. Saint Louis. The number one class in the A10 belongs to the Billikens who signed three new players last week when the signing period opened up. Terrence Hargrove (a 6-foot-5 wing) and Yuri Collins (a point guard) are both top 200 level recruits that had ignored high major interest to play for the Bils. The addition of Hagrove and Collins plus Gibson Jimerson pushed Saint Louis to 58th overall in the national recruit rankings.
Two. Rhode Island. How did Rhode Island land the second best A10 class and a two man group that ranks just outside the top 60? By landing four star recruit 6-foot-7 small forward Mehki Long, the 94th ranked player overall in the 2019 class. In addition, 6-foot-5 small forward Gregory Hammond out of Louisiana is a top 300 player nationally and 6-foot-8 forward Marial Mading gives the Rams three players ranked in the top 400 of the Prep Hoops top 500.
Three. George Washington. Not only does George Washington have a top three A10 group but they also signed a two man recruiting class that is good enough to get them close to the top 75 classes in the nation. Maryland 6-foot-9 center Chase Paar is ranked 223rd in the nation while 6-foot-8 Jamison Battle is one of the best shooters with size in 2019 (ranked 316th overall out of Minnesota).
Four. LaSalle. Six-foot-11 center Brandon Stone signed with LaSalle giving them a post who is nearing his way to being a top 20 prospect in the nation. Six-foot-4 wing Christian Ray is also a Prep Hoops top 500 talent and between Stone and Ray the Explorers have one of the top A10 groups coming in.
Five. George Mason. George Mason picked up the commitment of the 238th ranked player in the nation in Xavier Johnson and paired him with Josh Oduro, a 6-foot-8 frontcourt player ranked on the backside of the Prep Hoops top 500. Johnson is a 6-foot-3 lead guard from Virginia who many feel can help take this program to a higher level.
Six. UMass. The Minutemen have put together a group that is right outside of the top 100 nationally. UMass signed two players that Prep Hoops feel will help take their program forward. One is 6-foot-10 center Jalen Thomas (ranked 301 overall) out of Detroit and the other is Rhode Island 6-foot-5 wing Preston Santos (ranked 374th).
Seven. Dayton. Moulaye Sisskoko is a 6-foot-9 frontcourt player that Dayton signed after a recruiting fight that at one point included double figure major conference offers. Moulaye earned a spot as the 253rd ranked player in this class and he’s an excellent first signed player for the Dayton class.
Eight. St. Bonaventure. Six-foot-7 frontcourt signed Justin Winston picked up nearly double figure high major offers a couple summers ago and now he’s the 334th ranked prospect highlighted as the lone signee of the St. Bonaventure fall 2019 class.
Nine. Richmond. The Spiders were able to stick 6-foot-5 small forward Tyler Burton last week giving Richmond a player ranked just outside the top 350 in the recent Prep Hoops top 500. Rhode Island, UMass, and San Diego were among the several programs that offered Burton before his pick of Richmond.
Ten. Duquesne. Maceo Austin is a player that at one point had six high major scholarship offers and now he’s a player ranked inside the top 400. Austin is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard and the lone signee in the Duquesne 2019 class so far.
Eleven. Saint Joseph’s. St. Joe’s signed a pair last weekend: 6-foot-3 shooting guard Hakim Hart out of New Jersey (a Prep Hoops top 500 ranked player in the 2019 class) and Kenan Servan, a 6-foot-9 power forward from The Netherlands.
Twelve. Fordham. The Rams lone signed player is 6-foot-10 center Joel Soriano, the 426th ranked player by Prep Hoops overall. Soriano picked Fordham over offers from Old Dominion, Florida International, LaSalle, and others.
Thirteen. VCU. Up and coming shooting guard from Massanutten Military Academy that VCU locked up early and has not signed. He’s the lone signed player in the class.
Fourteen. Davidson. Davidson has nobody committed at the moment.
