Where Should I go? Gameday Preview
With it being a holiday week, and the start of public school basketball happening, the amount of games that will take place are a bit more compacted this week. So we are going to give you a quick look at a few games that will be taking place today that you will want to check out.
Word of God at Freedom Christian: The Patriots lost their first game to Fayetteville Academy but will look to rebound in their 2nd game. Led by: Junior Guard Ambaka Le Gregam who finished with over 20 points in their last game, Senior Guards Brandon Murray and Thomas Miles as well as Aymeric Toussaint. The patriots have plenty of firepower to matchup with the Holy Rams and will look to start off things at home the right way. The Holy Rams come into this matchup with a record of 2-0 so far, which includes a win this weekend over Northside Christian Academy. The Holy Rams have plenty of talented players of their own which include: Senior Wing Max Farthing who is a 6’6 three point specialist, Sophomore Guard BJ Freeman who already holds an offer from Penn State, Senior Forward Trevon Spencer who has next level size, length and athleticism are just a few of the players are the Hoy Rams squad to keep an eye on.
Wakefield at Franklinton: The Wakefield Wolverines will look to start their season with a win on the road tonight. From what we have seen so far from this squad, they should have a chance to be a very good team and make a deep run in the playoffs. Senior Guard Elijah Shabazz and Senior Forward Trae Smith are both player that should have big time seasons this year. The sleeper on the team could very well be Forward Kharye Cayne, who at 6’9 with long arms is a shot blocking machine who already holds an offer from Norfolk State.
Scotland County at Grays Creek: Both of these teams have college prospects without a doubt, over the summer we got a chance to see both squad quite often and left impressed with the squads. Scotland County Senior Isaiah Bostick is a high flyer that missed a lot of time this summer due to an ankle injury but should see his recruitment pick up in a nice way. Grays Creek Senior name to know is Forward Antonio Dupree, who put together some impressive performances this summer and will look to have a nice senior season campaign.
71st HS at Southeast Raleigh HS: The 71st Falcons will have a new look to them but return quite a few familiar names. Senior Forward Brion McLaurin is one that college coaches already know, he is a player with good size for the next level and a skillset that is intriguing. Guard Demauriea Nickelson is a player that will feel could have a breakout season, as well as the new addition to the team, Tre Bell who is a senior that transfers in from Freedom Christian.
