Continue ReadingThis week marks the first week for Prep Hoops Oklahoma Grassroots Rankings. 17U was released yesterday and we turn to 16U today. The 16U division has a couple of clear cut spots, but several spots that could shuffle throughout the spring and summer.
- Oklahoma Run PWP
- Team Griffin
- OKC Primetime
- Oklahoma Impact
- Oklahoma Power
Oklahoma Run PWP came out of the gate red hot at the Prep Hoops Oklahoma Route 66 Kickoff defeating teams by double-digits left and right. However, the first session in the Under Armour Association was tough for Oklahoma Run PWP going just 1-3 with one of those losses coming to the Houston Defenders by 1, a team they beat in the Route 66 Kickoff by 20+. In the second weekend Oklahoma Run PWP found there stride in the third game looking very dangerous.
Team Griffin struggled out of the gate in their first session in Indy. They are playing with a lot of young players with some 2019 prospects playing up. Team Griffin may take some losses with their youth in 16U, but in the end it will help as the development of the 2019 players will speed up playing against great competition.
OKC Primetime lost a couple of pieces off of last years team that won the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament, but still are very dangerous. Earlier this year they defeated the Houston Defenders in the Prep Hoops Oklahoma Route 66 Kickoff. It will be interesting if we get a match up of OKC Primetime with PWP or Team Griffin at some point this year.
Oklahoma Impact has been a mainstay in the Oklahoma Grassroots landscape in recent years. Chris Myers has another good team with his 16U squad. A lot of guys that are under the radar at small schools in Oklahoma are going to be able to get their name out this summer playing together on the 16U squad.
Rounding out the top 5 is Oklahoma Power. Several teams were really close to taking the 16U spot, but after a solid showing at the GASO this past weekend the Oklahoma Power enter at 5 in the rankings. The 16U Oklahoma Power team plays together and does a great job of sharing the basketball.
