Elite 14 Recaps: Elite Floor Generals
Imo Essien / 5’10” / PG / Bishop Lynch / 2021
Bishop Lynch is definitely in good hands with Imo Essien as the floor general after graduating now Midwestern State PG Zach Rouseau. He is extremely quick and has the ball on a string when handling the rock. He is a point guard who sees the play before it happens. His fantastic efforts Friday night earned him his first Division I offer from North Texas.
Jalen Jackson / 5’11” / PG / San Antonio Wagner / 2019
The college-ready point guard will finally be the top featured prospect on a young Thunderbird team. He is on the last year of serving his four-year term as Wagner’s floor general and is still irritating opponents with his toughness and effort on the defensive end. The North Texas commit is the defensive anchor for his team and will be the catalyst for the Thunderbird’s tough style of play on both ends and imposing grit while guarding on the ball.
Daishen Nix / 6’3″ / PG / Trinity International (NV) / 2020
I truthfully admit that as a Texas Media Scout, I have not been as “woke” nationally as I should be. However, Daishen Nix opened my eyes with his level of play this past weekend. Nix is blessed with great size at the point guard spot and a high basketball I.Q. The Alaska native is a gifted passer who sees the cracks within a defense and can make accurate 3/4 court passes that lead to easy scores. Nix does not struggle getting where he needs to go on the court. He easily breaks down defenses to get to the rim and finish with ease. Nix is easily one of the best point guards this country has to offer from the 2020 class.
Cobe Williams / 5’11” / PG / Kimball / 2019
Cobe Williams displayed his elite ability to finish acrobatically around the rim. He has a blazing quick first step to blow by defenders. When it is used, he is almost immediately at the rim. Cobe has great body control at the rim and was the standout player for the Knights in front of (his most recent offer) Louisiana Tech and UT-Arlington staff members.
