Preseason All-Conference: Northeast Iowa
Preseason Player of the Year: Jackson Molstead, Charles City — 2019
Not just the best guard in the conference, but one of the best overall guards in the state, Molstead is a guy who could post bigger numbers than just about anyone this season. He’s been a high-output player since he was a freshman with the Comets, and there’s no reason the believe the state’s 31st -ranked 2019 won’t post huge numbers this winter.

Jackson Molstead, Charles City — 2019
19.0 points, 7.3 assists, 1.6 steals, 4.4 rebounds
As a freshman, he averaged 15.5 points per game, as a sophomore, 19.4, last season 19.0. But it’s not just scoring he does at a high level, he assists almost as well as anyone in Iowa, too.
Dom Robertson, Oelwein — 2019
14.1 points, 4.5 assists, 3.2 steals, 5.5 rebounds
One of the state’s most versatile players, Robertson using his immense length to dominate on both sides of the ball He will be among the conference leaders in a slew of statistical categories this season.
Michael Sweeney, Waukon — 2019
21.2 points, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals, 4.1 rebounds
The conference’s leading scorer from a season ago returns, and is in line to become one of the state’s leading scorers this season. Could Sweeney up his scoring to 25 per game this winter?
Tristan Sweitzer, New Hampton — 2019
16.0 points, 3.6 assists, 2.4 steals
After playing in just five games last season, Sweitzer returns for his senior season and is undoubtedly eager to prove that he can be a top-tier player in the state.
Luke Velky, Waverly-Shell Rock — 2019
12.4 points, 2.3 assists, 3.4 rebounds
A program that’s always is in the running to earn a state tourney bid, Waverly-Shell Rock will again be very good this season, and Velky will be the guy leading the charge.
