The Brown School in Louisville is an afterthought to many around high school basketball in the city of Louisville but Senior point guard Jairus Bibb is hoping to elevate the school’s reputation by elevating his game in the 2018-19 season. Bibb described his game as a fast paced scorer. Bibb told me he loves to create shots for his teammates, loves to win and mainly loves to have fun when he’s on the floor. His strengths are “scoring passing and being being a leader” but also said he needs to be a better free throw shooter and learn when to take a game over. Coming off a Junior season where he nearly doubled his scoring average from the previous season, Jairus told me, “I was proud of myself. My scoring went from 9 to 16 per game. My assists went from 2 to 4.5 per game and my defense got better. As a team we had our bumps in the road but we did make history with the most school wins in 15 years, but we wanted more.”
Jairus heads into his senior season with positive momentum from his AAU season. “I play AAU for the 502 Grizzlies/ABA Hawks. With this being our first year, we are doing well. We went to Bowling Green and also came in second at the battle of the bridges tournament. We fought hard in a league at the Mid- America Complex where we are in the championship on August 13 and we’re looking to win it all with everyone playing well.” From his AAU run, Bibb is hoping to take his leadership to his high school team. “As one of the oldest on the team and the point guard, leadership is very important and that’s a quality I want to transfer over from AAU to high school.” Jairus is heading into his final season at Brown and has personal and team goals for his last season there. “My personal goal is to hit 1,000 points by January. I’m currently at 867 for my career. As a team, our goal is to have the best season ever at the school and win a championship.” Heading into his senior year, Jairus Bibb is hoping to put the Brown School back on the map with the best record in school history and establish himself among the best point guards in the city of Louisville in the 2019 class.
