Maryland/DC/VA Summer Stock Boosters: 2019 Wings/Forwards (Part 2)
We spent most of June and July on the road evaluating prospects from the DMV at various events, and now its time to take a look back at what we’ve learned. Here we begin by taking a look at some of the players who’ve helped themselves with consistently strong play over the summer. In this edition we highlight five class of 2019 wings and/or forwards that have done just that.
6’5 F Elijah Williams | Team Takeover Orange/Sidwell Friends
It’s no coincidence that teams Elijah Williams competed on won championships this summer. After a strong showing at Hoop Group Academic Elite 1, the versatile wing helped his high school team capture the championship in their respective division at Hoop Group Team Camp. Williams closed out his summer by helping Team Takeover Orange claim the championship at the Hoop Group Buzzer Beater Classic. A host of division two programs are actively recruiting him now, but we would not be surprised to see at least one or division one programs offer in the very near future.
6’7 F Mack Burgett | Team Loaded 804/LC Bird
Mack Burgett is one of the most versatile and well rounded prospects in Virginia’s 2019 class. A southpaw who can stretch the floor, see the floor, and rebound out of his area, he is a true sleeper who has shown that he can consistently produce in a variety of ways at the high school level. Burgett is a very coachable player who will certainly focus on continuous improvement once he sets foot on a college campus.
6’7 F Ian Anderson | Team Loaded 434/Potomac Falls
Potomac Falls standout Ian Anderson was a stalwart throughout the summer, both with LBA Attack and with Loaded 434. A handful of division three programs, such as York and CNU, are actively recruiting him at the moment. Anderson has division two offers from schools such as Millersville, and most recently Assumption College. If he decides to wait it out and performs well throughout his senior year at Potomac Falls, we wouldn’t be surprised to see some low level division one schools get in the mix.
6’4 SF Alex Fitch | Higher Level/Rock Ridge (VA)
Alex Fitch was responsible for one of the most impressive individual performances we saw this summer. He can fill a variety of roles with his shot making ability, willingness to rebound out of his area, and ability to understand defensive concepts. Fitch’s recruitment has been somewhat of an enigma, because while shooting is considered a premium these days, we still have yet to see any division one programs offer him. A host of division two and three programs are reportedly prioritizing Fitch at the moment, and there is no question he would succeed immediately wherever he lands.
6’4 SF Louis Tang | District Basketball Club/St. Mary’s Ryken (MD)
It’s been nearly a full year since Louis Tang has began playing competitively in the states, and he has acclimated himself quite well. An active and energetic wing who demonstrates a continuously improving skill set, the rising senior will only improve as he continues to grow into his body and gain additional experience. Last month, Gannon became the first school to offer Tang a full scholarship.
