He hopes to put up a whole lot more as the Colonels make a run at their first Second Region title since winning the 2011 state championship.
“It’s going good,” the senior guard said of the early season for Christian County. “We need to just keep playing the way we’ve been playing the whole year.”
Edwards is putting up 16.5 points and 4.3 rebounds a game. He had 21.1 points a night last winter, but Christian County crashed out of the postseason after an Eighth District semifinal loss.
In seeking a bounce-back, the Colonels (12-2) possessed the region’s best record heading into Friday’s showdown with Paducah Tilghman (11-2).
Edwards’ offensive strength, he said, is driving.
“I can get to the rim good, getting my teammates open,” he said.
He’s working on a jump shot to make that threat even more potent.
“It’s gotten a lot better,” he said, “but I’m still working on that.”
Edwards said schools he’s drawn looks from include Kentucky Wesleyan and St. Catharine in-state, as well as Kaskaskia College (Ill.) and Shawnee State (Ohio).
