Illinois Sophomore ID Camp: Team 8 Evaluations

Evaluations from players on team 8 at the Prep Hoops Illinois Sophomore ID Camp.    Altered a shot around the basket by sliding over and providing help underneath. Crashed the glass from the guard position at times to help secure and quickly outlet for transition opportunities. On the offensive side showed ability to space the floor and knock down threes.     Kitlas showed sound feel throughout with team concepts. Offensively displayed some versatility by jab stepping the creating space for a pull up 15 foot jumper. He also showed ability to knock down catch and shoot threes while spacing away from the defense. In the ½ court setting, Kitlas demonstrated skill to attack with purpose off the bounce and awareness to read off help defenses for drive and kicks to teammates. Overall bought a balance team oriented approach with passing, shooting, and decision making.     A lead initiator who combines functional agility with a high active motor across multiple phases. Rader provides shooting versatility from beyond the arc showing comfort in spot up options or creating rhythmic threes off the bounce. He consistently finds scoring windows through intentional on and off ball movements. As a facilitator, Rader processes the floor well while utilizing backdoor cuts and keeping his vision up to generate early pitch ahead passes off of rebounds from the guard spot. Defensively he finds opportunities to disrupt point of attack pressure at times using his activity and anticipation to help generate turnovers. A two way tough guard from Geneva that should continue to see stock increase.     Kroll showed active defensive instincts in the passing windows and getting tips on the ball to help disrupt offensive movement. He runs solidly in transition phases to attack and drew some fouls at the rim doing so. His motor translates to the glass game as well while creating some second chance opportunities on the offensive end. Kroll brings a productive combination of feel and possession to possession activity as a 2 way combo guard.     Presents a composed and unhurried feel. Profiles as a prototypical 2 man already at this stage in career. Offensively Gamboa provides multi-level shot making ability from 3 and from midrange. In one possession he knocked down a smooth 12 foot turn around jumper self created off the bounce. Provides advantages in other situations in the ½ court setting making sound productive drive and kick reads when help commits. He showed anticipation away from the ball defensively as well to jump passing lanes when opportunities were there.     Caught Jamison in the team's first game of the day and he established himself as one of the premier perimeter shot makers at the showcase immediately. He displayed a feathery release with repeatable mechanics from deep either off the catch or going into his shot off the bounce. His pull-up game was demonstrated after advancing the ball himself and recognizing a laid back defense. With his size, Jamison can attack off dribble drive action and draw plus 1 defenders to then make good reads. He initiated early pitch a heads in the offense to advance possessions quickly after rebounding. His length affects shots on the defensive end as well. A two way wing from WY that still has upside with an already patented and impactful skill set.     A long and athletic prospect that showed multiple operating tools in his arsenal throughout the day and why he is one of the top Illinois class of 2029 recruits. Marshall's game speaks for itself and if there was an an MVP vote at the event, he would have been my top candidate. He generated so much offensive value that he pretty much got whatever he wanted to in the two games I watched. His transition play and quick decision making skills were evident while he attacked nearly closed spaces and still converted or made the right read. His long strides, positional size at 6'5, and change of pace hesitation movement continuously manipulated defenses for angles. He recognized help rotations to pass the ball off drive and kick reads or making the extra swing passes for assists and setting up shooters. Marshall's trajectory as a playmaker and defensive challenger will continue to climb.     One of the true interior prospects at the showcase. Lynch brings legitimate positional size and understands how to operate within his role. Played alongside some talented highly ranked speedy guards but he kept up with the pace without skipping a beat. Lynch brings a rebounding presence that translates to both ends while coming up with a few put backs on the offensive side. Defensively he brings value as a rim deterrent and anticipates drivers to alter attempts at the basket. He also flashed some floor spacing ability spotting up from 3 land off the catch. The upside should continue to rise from the Metamora big.
