I’m so high on McLaughlin. I’ve never seen him play on a team that doesn’t play excellent offensive basketball, and it’s partly because of how the sophomore CG helps connect his teammates and keep the ball moving. He knows how to move without the ball, and he’s a phenomenal decision-maker when it comes to getting paint touches and figuring out whether to continue attacking the rim or whether to feed one of his teammates. He won’t wow you with athleticism, but he has excellent feel and is a great passer. McLaughlin should be a nice piece for Milton Academy this season and fits perfectly into Middlesex Magic’s system. If he continues to grow and get more athletic, watch out.

I really love McLaughlin’s game. The 6-foot-2 guard won’t wow you with quickness or amazing explosiveness, but he makes the right play consistently and really understands how to play. The sophomore attacks closeouts extremely well and knows what he’s going to do with the ball before it gets swung to him, and then he does a good job slowing down in the paint and making rim reads. He can shoot, pass, and dribble, and the game looks like it comes easily to him. McLaughlin might not get massive minutes this season, but Milton Academy can feel comfortable in their depth with a piece like him off the bench.
