Summer league players to watch: Millennium Tigers
The Millennium Tigers basketball team is led by a talented core of young players. Their top two scorers are rising sophomores and four of the team’s top producers have two years or more left to play. Millennium finished the 2017-18 season 13-13 and barely missed out on playoffs.
Here are four players to keep an eye on:
- DaRon Holmes
Millennium’s top scorer and rebounder from last season is often the largest player on the court, even just heading into his sophomore year. Though not incredibly massive, with a lot of room to grow strength and muscle, he dominated opponents from the low block, scoring points at the basket with ease. He uses that length to rebound on both ends and make scoring difficult at the basket for opponents.
- Justus Jackson
Jackson has solid ability to be the lead guard and run the offense, handling the ball well and looking to distribute to teammates. He comes up with a lot of steals in on-ball defense, which leads to opportunities for him to get into transition and accumulate points and assists quickly.
- Coleman Fields
The third rising sophomore rounding out this trio is Fields, who is one of Millennium’s real versatile players, able to score from all parts of the floor. He makes smart cuts off the ball and has good ability to knock down jumpers as well. His long arms and quick feet make him a viable defender against most positions, and he rebounds effectively as well.
- Micheal Batchelor
Batchelor’s ability to knock down jumpers from the perimeter allows for more space for the trio of rising sophomores to operate, with defenses unable to cheat in on the other quick and athletic players in the paint. The junior also uses his length to bother opponents on the defensive end.
