Maryland/DC 2020 Rankings Breakdown: Shooters
Prep Hoops Maryland recently updated the class of 2020 player rankings. Gathering a list of players and choosing which rank best fits the individual was an extremely difficult challenge, but we do our best to keep them updated every three months. Our recent update includes a reduction in the number of players ranked from 65 to 55. Here we resume our breakdown series by highlighting six of the top shooters listed.
TERRANCE WILLIAMS | GONZAGA
Ranking: 5
Terrance Williams is shot the lights out this spring with Team Takeover. The 6-foot-7 forward, who has done nothing but produce consistently at the high school level, shot over 55% from three and 85% from the charity stripe during the EYBL regular season. Williams received a recent offer from Stanford, and we can see several other high majors getting on board very soon.
MARCUS DOCKERY | THEODORE ROOSEVELT
Ranking: 10
Marcus Dockery is coming off a solid spring with DC Premier. The skilled 6-foot-2 southpaw, who shot close to 40% from three and over 86% from the line on the UAA, is considered one of the elite shooters in the local 2020 class. Dockery received a recent offer from GW, and has reported interest from several other division one programs who could respectively pull the trigger by offering soon.
DIMINGUS STEVENS | WOODROW WILSON
Ranking: 16
Dimingus Stevens is probably the best shooter we’ve seen in the local 2020 class. At 6-foot-5, he is a good athlete who can shoot it equally well off the dribble as he can from the catch, and has in the gym range. Stevens recently picked up an offer from Maryland.
LINCOLN BALL | WILLIAMSPORT
Ranking: 17
Lincoln Ball does a lot more than just shoot, but that’s definitely one of the things he does very well. At 6-foot-4, he is quite skilled and efficient while in possession, and has the size to rise up and shoot over top of most defenders. Ball reportedly has current interest from a handful of division one programs, and those should turn into offers in the near future.
DAVID STEWART | BROADNECK
Ranking: 38
At 6-foot-6, David Stewart is one of the more intriguing prospects in local the 2020 class as a result of his unique blend of size and deep range. We think he could be a late bloomer as he is still growing into his body. Look for Stewart to have a strong junior season after he gains more valuable experience this summer.
MICHAEL KATSOCK | ST. ALBANS
Ranking: 47
Michael Katsock caught our eye last season with his quick release, shrewd movement off the ball, and ability to consistently knock down perimeter jump shots. He is running with Team Takeover Orange this summer, where he is one of the most consistent shooters on his squad. Katsock should continue to build off his impressive sophomore campaign moving forward.
