Purvis shows a mature feel for the game, playing with his eyes up and making good reads without forcing plays. He kept the ball moving with swing and skip passes while also getting ahead in transition and finding open windows. His off-ball movement stood out, beating defenders on cuts, curling off screens, and consistently finding ways to stay involved with or without the ball. Defensively, played with good intensity and used his length, active hands, and ability to slide to make an impact. The way he plays above his age gives him a bright future at Yorkville Christian.

Purvis provides plus length and a strong motor at the wing spot who makes an impact on both ends of the floor. He shows reliable spot up shooting ability that included knocking down multiple 3’s throughout today. On BLOB actions, he cuts hard to open gaps and has a solid IQ and understanding of where to be at on the floor. Purvis converted on some tough finishes on the interior as well which shows he can provide tangibles inside and out offensively. On the defensive end, his anticipation and length affected shooters on the perimeter and in the passing lanes. His two way activity provides an intriguing foundation to continue to build upon.

The 6’5” incoming freshman shined playing up three levels in July for Fueled by Faith.  Lefty wing looked more than comfortable out there as well.  He drained five three balls in one game against Outwork.  Really like the shot prep here as he is always ready and has a lightning quick release getting it out of his hands.  Understands how to get open and lets it fly with confidence.

In the morning matchup against Illinois Outlook 17U, Jaxon played up three levels for Fueled By Faith—and he never looked out of place. The lefty freshman embraced the challenge, looking comfortable against older competition while knocking down five threes in the opener. He stays in a shooter’s stance, is ready on the catch, and gets his shot off quickly. He runs the floor to find open space and does a nice job relocating on drives to create kick-out opportunities. A confident shot-maker with plenty of upside, Jaxon is a freshman whose development will be fun to follow.

Jaxon Purvis Jaxon Purvis 6'5" | SF Yorkville Christian | 2030 IL has good size for his age group and used it effectively on both ends of the floor, providing a steady presence on the glass. His rebounding often led to quick transition plays, including a coast-to-coast finish at the rim. His size created matchup problems, allowing him to see over defenders and consistently find teammates in open spots for easy scoring opportunities.
