Prospect Profile: Isaiah Wallace (2020 Churchill HS/Dribble Drive 17U)
Isaiah Wallace is getting challenged this off-season. The solid 6-foot-2, 170-pound point guard from Churchill High School may only be a rising junior, but he’s playing up with Dribble Drive’s 17U squad and it’s experience he’s certainly not taking for granted.
“I’ve been learning a lot of new things, playing 17s as a 16-year old,” Wallace said. “I feel like I’ve been doing pretty good. I’ve been making shots and leading my team. In high school I’m the starting point guard, but in AAU it’s different we run plays through everyone because everyone can shoot.”
Wallace played fairly well at the recent Hoop Memorial Day Classic in Salem. He shot fairly well from the perimeter but it’s his hustle on defense that really caught some eyes. Despite the fact it’s still early, Wallace has already received an invitation to attend camp at Seattle University and it’s the type of interest he is looking to receive.
“I want to play Division I basketbal,” Wallace said. “I’m looking at facilities, the people around, the community. I’d like to stay around my family too.”
Since it’s so early in the process, Wallace is obviously keeping all of his options open. The immediate future is the summer. “Hopefully I can get more camps to go to and get more colleges to talk to me,” Wallace said. “And I just want to play basketball and win.”
