Top Five “Glue Guys”: The Hoop Memorial Day Classic (Day 1)
At The Hoop Memorial Day Classic, it was easy to spot the guys who scored the buckets, made the spectacular plays, or filled the stat sheet. But there was a special group of players that did the little things that helped their teams put games in the victory column. Here’s a look at top five “glue guys” form in-state that we observed.
Drayton Caoile (2019 West Linn/Hoop Salem 17U) – Caoile has filled in when needed on the circuit all spring and while his playing time may have increased some at The Hoop Memorial Day Classic, he continued to do all the things to help the team win. He ran the point turnover free, hit several threes, and was active on defensive end.
Grant Fuson (2019 Lake Oswego/Nike Team Northwest 17U Team Knight) – Fuson is rock-solid at 6-foot-5, 225-pounds and he utilizes it to his advantage on the boards and on defense. Want a hard screen up top? He’s your man. Add the fact he has a decent face up jumper and Fuson certainly qualifies as a glue guy.
Collin Warmouth (2019 Roseburg/Team Fly Williams) – Warmouth has more of a defined role for Roseburg but for Team Fly Williams he does a little bit of everything. He can score and handle the ball, help scrap around inside for rebounds, and take on just about anyone on defense. His injury late in the game against Prodigy was a huge loss.
Brandon Roberts (2019 Lake Oswego/Team Fly White) – On the floor, Roberts was all over the place because where the ball was, he was after it. He’s the prototype of the type of guy who makes an impact even when the statistics don’t necessary show it.
Braedin Nowlin (2019 Dayton/OBC Gold) – Since Bo Quinlan was running the show for OBC, Nowlin played off the ball but made things happen when he got it, whether it was getting out on the break, making the extra pass, or hitting the open shot.
