We all know who fills up the box score each time out. The leading scorers, the names that jump off the stat sheet. But winning basketball is built on more than scoring. It's built on the guys who do the dirty work, set the tone, and keep the team steady when things get chaotic. The engines for their team. The pairs that impact winning in ways numbers can't explain. Here are the top glue guy duos in the 6A/5A/4A CO Springs Metro South Conference.

Lucas's role changed a bit in his Senior season as his teammates have filled in around him, but he's been his same dominant self. He's been the team's enforcer and inside presence and has been steady for the entire year. He's up to 11.5 points and 6.2 rebounds a game. While his offense has shifted in each game, he takes what the defense gives him, is aggressive, and gets to his spots. Lucas also runs the floor and finishes over the top of defenses as a rim runner. His work on the glass gives him easy scoring opportunities and also second-chance points. He's been the glue guy for the team and has helped them get off to a stellar start to the season. Now it's time to finish strong.

Jones is the spark to the team as he plays with flair. He adds flash with his passes, he breaks defenders down off the dribble, and the team rides his momentum. He's the squad's main ball handler, and he makes plays happen. Jones is filling up the stat sheet as a connector. He's averaging 9.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and a team-high 4.1 assists a game. He's a two-way standout who also brings defensive intensity, and that has raised the ceiling for Mesa Ridge's season. We're excited to see how he looks in the postseason.

Harrison has turned some heads this season and is off to a hot start. They compete and get after it. One of the prospects who has been a bit under the radar but is a major contributor is Javion. Javion is not a player who has to have the ball to be productive, and it isn't only centered around scoring. He's a difference maker with his ability to lead when he's on the floor. He brings energy and toughness to the team that they rally behind. He's a two-way guard who rebounds well and is starting to find an offensive groove as well as they get into league play. He's gotten career highs in points to begin February, he looks more confident as a scorer, and he allows Harrison to be dynamic. He's a glue guy who could have them make a run. Didn't want him to continue going overlooked

Nobles is a prospect who we have never written about before, but with the way that he's stood out in various games this year, he's a player we wish we got to see more of. Nobles is a score-first guard who the team relies on. He's a downhill attacker that finishes in transition, slashes for baskets, and gets to his spots. The game looks easy for him right now, and we want to see him continue his groove. He's averaging 9.1 points a game and making his mark on the boards as well, at 3.4 rebounds. He turns guys over and finishes and is a menace defensively. We hope to see Harrison make a bit of a push in the playoffs so we can see more of him, but he's been tearing it up in Conference play as a new name to know.

Edwards is a player who I feel as if we had more eyes on throughout his time; we would've been much higher on. He has excellent size at 6'7, and it looks like it's started to click for him Senior year. He's been a beast in the new year, specifically in conference play, and everyone who goes against him knows it. He's coming off of a stretch where he's been efficient; he's used his size and gotten to the free-throw line. He keeps the ball high. finishes through contact and has found his way around the basket. He sets screens and rolls, secures the board, and starts the break, and demands double teams at times. He may not be the leading scorer on the team, but he is a player who keeps the team connected. He's averaging 9.7 points and 7.1 rebounds a game, and he's jumped ALL the way on our radar.

Tevin is a freshman guard who is off to a good start to his career. He's filled the boxscore, been effective both on and off-ball, and has stepped into more of a scoring role as we get into conference play. Right now, he's starting to put multiple good games in. He's shooting the basketball with confidence, he's taking what the defense is giving him, and he doesn't look like a freshman. He's contributing on the boards as well as setting the table as a lead guard as well. I am excited to see how he continues to raise his game, but he's now a player on our radar.
